Oh yes, in fact, my sister runs nzLARPS. I do most the photography at the games.
It's slowly getting bigger here, Auckland is still the main center and gradually spreading to other main cities.

Hehe... I am doing that for 13 years now. The "Scene" is quite big here in germany with really large events like the Drachenfest or the Conquest of Mythodea.
I know from some people doing that in other parts of europe and in the US, but not down under... Perhaps the japanese do something similar... at least, they have such things as reenactment with Samurais in their castles.

It's still fairly unknown here but its getting there. The biggest event we have is the annual convention but even that is only in its third year running.
A few years ago, I made a doco about it for high school: [link]
But just last year, we had a local news show do an article on us: [link]
So we're getting there.

This docu is quite nice and the girl (your sister?) sounds very enthusiastic about that all. What I like is the emphasis on the "Just pretending" thing.
Media coverage here in germany is quite mixed. Sometimes, you get pushed near the medieval reenactment groups, which is ok, because such groups here are quite common and have a good reputation. We have many historical festivals in every little bigger town.
The others try to push "larpers" near the freaks corner, satanists or other violent and/or occult groups who have problems with the real life.

Live Action Role Playing, my other hobby. Pretty much a form of RPG where you actually dress up and do it. 20/20 recently did an article on us. [link]

Howdy! My name's Sarah, I'm a friend of Jennifer's. She gave me the link to your deviantart page and told me to check it out cause it's awesome I just wanna say that your gallery is really impressive! I ESPECIALLY love the manipulated b/w photos. You're really lucky you're able to use a darkroom, cause I'm sure Jen told you about ours being demolished.
Anyway, I faved a few pieces from your boards, and I'll be going now so my comment doesn't kill your page.
Bye, and Happy New Year!
