I know all I can do is just keep trying but sometimes I wish that I could just skip the trying part and become awesome by osmosis or whatever but it's kind of nice that hard work can be really rewarding! Thank you for the worthy advice ^u^

i think osmosis is actually a part of the learning though, which is why deviantart is so awesome 'cause you don't have to work on art in an isolated bubble, you can check other people's arts and their techniques, it's an incredibly valuable resource

I think a lot of how I ever got into art in the first place was by copying other people! For the longest time I would try to recreate what other people had drawn instead of trying to be more original. And I felt badly about it at the time, but now I think it actually helped me to learn a lot. And dA makes it really really easy to see all of the styles out there and encourage you to adjust your style~ Also a lot of people make tutorials telling you how they draw and stuff and those are also really helpful so yeha in sum this website is one of my favorites for a lot of reasons

yeah deviantart is great, a lot of people give it a hard time but i've never really had a beef with it

using reference pictures is a great way to learn proportions and eventually you can take the knowledge and apply it, a lot of very talented artists work from photographs and reference pictures and it doesn't make their art any less beautiful
