np. I always wanted to get into photography but never had the eye for it. A lot of pictures I see show the photographer's technical abilities but fail to capture or invoke any kind of emotion or creativity.

It's much harder to convey emotion...I don't think photography is very hard, I think anyone can do it, the difference is the subject matter, I guess. Which is why I want to go to Africa or a conflict zone, to actually take pictures that matter. The ones I take are nice, but they seldom mean something, you know?

Well, in this day and age just about everything has been photographed. Just think how cool it would be to photograph an undiscovered land?

Your work definitely has a lot of originality so I wouldn't worry about it. I hate all those photos down in Africa and in war zones. Maybe I just can't relate.

I read "the Bang Bang Club" recently, it's a true story about four photographers living in South Africa as the Apartheid regime was ending, and it's a fabulous book. I recommend it if you want some South African info, or to see the world a bit more through the eyes of the photographers. But I'm very much attracted to these places right now, I think the pictures I could take there would be awesome!
