They are done with fractal programs.
I started out using Apophysis, it's a Windows program and free to download (~3eetle uses this one and makes awesome ones, if you want to check his gallery out)
Then I switched to the Mac and stopped making them for awhile then found a few programs that made them but didn't like them much.
Now I use a program called ArtMatic, it's a free download, but sadly it's a demo mode, so they don't allow you to save images. But I use Preview (an inbuilt Mac program) to take screenshots and save them that way.

hmm looks interesting I hope I can check it out some time. right now I am experimenting with a program called fireworks. the last six pics in my gallery are some of the things I did in it. but some are projects that I turned in and another few are just some things I have done with free time so yeah . lol. I will deffinately be checking out that program. thanks.

I have Fireworks, I will admit I barely know what I am doing in it, I tend to stick to Photoshop, Illustrator if I want pixel perfection ^^
I suggest you do try it at some stage, it's rather fun ^^

yeah fire works is a tough program to work for a little while but once you use it or taught to use it. fireworks gets way eaiser. and thanks again.
