— ⊰ ⊱ — A touch so sudden yet gentle, it propels the emotion of an intimidated sort of wonder. Without a doubt, his heart participates in the race of rapid beating. What has he done to merit this gesture from Monoma? A part of him decides to stay motionless, for remaining frigid was this boy's specialty, but the entirety of his soul longed for the sight of the other's expression. Was his sincerity at his finest? Or perhaps this was a touch that simply wished to provoke his vexation.
Why do I feel confused around him?
Eyes were cautious in movement as they direct at the furthest border to refrain from turning his head; he peeks and sees the sight. It is their smallest digits intertwined. It is subtle. It has Shinso experiencing butterflies in his stomach, no, a whole zoo inside his system. Even if this uneasy feeling devours him, Monoma's presence pillows Shinso; surprisingly enough, he was one of the few people he felt comfortable around with. Silence puppeteers the brainwasher, but he breaks out of its strings when he speaks."Do you ... need something, Monoma?"

Another Friday, another day of learning at the prestigious school known as U.A. Although the start of this assumed repeated day was already proving itself to be different from the rest of the week. For starters, class 1-B didn't even have a chance to enter their homeroom before being ordered to enter the Gym Gamma. This was certainly a red flag of something to come.
As the loud teens entered, a man stood in greeting. He possessed teal hair, azure eyes, and a hero attire that appeared like something straight out of a RPG game. The Nerd Hero? Hero of the Nerds perhaps? Whatever ridiculous title he held, he looked far from friendly. The aura that came from him felt cold and unwelcoming much like a similar teacher here.
He held a small chalkboard in front of himself.
"Byleth" The white chalked words simply said.
"Blood Hero: Vlad King had suffered from a villain attack. He's alive but he's suffering from a lot of pain. I'm here as your substitute teacher for a couple months until he recovers. I'm Byleth."
As he continued on, he wiped the chalkboard clean in preparation to write more words upon it.
"I may be a substitute teacher but I'm not here to be teased, mocked, or experience pranks from any of you. I'm here to raise heroes, not clowns."
As most of the students nods and spoke in obedience, his piercing blue eyes looked over at the purple haired student.
"Shinso Hitoshi, right? Eraserhead told me you're new to the hero course. He also told me to tell you he won't be training you anymore. It would be unfair to the other students to give you further special training. You're on your way to becoming a full grown hero so I suggest you cut your umbilical cord now and gain your own strength. Otherwise, you'll struggle and never pass from the point you are at now. Do you believe you're ready to be cut?"

— ⊰ ⊱ — Cut the umbilical cord? Is he being compared to a fetus? The audacity of this man gives no reason to restrain his eyes from delivering a narrow glare. A glare dedicated to this very substitute. If being condescending was a work of art, Byleth was a masterpiece. Who does he think he is, waltzing in here and declaring what would be set in motion? Aizawa wouldn't abandon the boy, not when the road of heroism was still a long way to go. Unless, he thinks, that either this is a heartbreaking tactic the pro-hero deployed when he would unlock the stage of maturity for his students or maybe this was just nonsensical talk from this costume-clad individual. After all, Aizawa is more than capable of informing such news himself. He wouldn't need it coming from a brattish mouth. These thoughts amounted to irritation; fists clenched at his sides, as if such an action would keep him grounded from doing something irrational against a superior.
He will not deny, it was a bit childish of himself for casting a negative opinion over the other. It was challenging, restraining his newfound resentment that is. Especially when this teacher has little idea of his story; Shinso hasn't even opened his book for him, and at this rate, he never will. No matter how wise Byleth could be, he will not ever know the pain, the sweat, and the tears that come from being born with a quirk like his. Everyone has a tale of their own. Some beyond repair, others more light-hearted. Shinso and Byleth needn't know of each other's past. The possibility of them being bound in the same coin was possible. Maybe not. Maybe this man had been blessed with the luxuries of life. Lucky him. People like this would exist and what did he exercise against them? His patience. It has been his loyal companion for as long as he can remember.
A mindset like this is what maneuvered the brainwasher out of his bout of anger. And just like that, he sighs. Not only for combating his frustration internally but for the rest of Class 1-B, for the students that agonized greatly of their teachers' absence, for the rest of the students who couldn't fend of the bitter feeling this substitute brought in, and for a certain blonde boy who was probably boiling inside ...
Shinso became a lightning rod for the students in the Hero Department, for Class 1-B when he carefully crafts his murmur:
"I may be just a student in your eyes just like how you're merely a substitute in mines, but don't go on underestimating me, or I will do the same."

It was natural for anyone to be unsettled by such a stern authoritative figure. Vlad King wasn't the nicest at first either, appearing strict and mighty until he felt comfortable enough to allow his own craziness to mesh with his own students' craziness. However, the blond student didn't feel uncomfortable. He didn't even feel upset as one would assume. Whether Shinso liked to admit it or not, Monoma knew the substitute had a point.
Shinso had been aided through all of this.
Monoma and the rest of class 1-B fought alone to get to where they were today. They studied endlessly. They passed the ruthless entrance exam. They shed blood, sweat, and tears with no support other than parents paying the bills. From an outside perspective Shinso did seem to have had his hand held all the way through by Aizawa. He may have gotten into the hero course but he still remained the black sheep. The topic of his umbilical cord being ready to be cut or not was something to definitely question at this point.
When Monoma glanced over though, he immediately got the answer to that question.
Yes.
He saw the passionate fire burning in the other's violent eyes. He heard the challenging determination in his otherwise quiet mutters. He felt stupid for ever doubting him in that mere second before.
Monoma suddenly shot up a hand to speak.
"Sir Byleth, you took us to Gym Gamma for a reason. I assume it's to see our quirks and see what we're capable of, right? I'm sure Shinso would gladly show you his worth and show you exactly why he made it into the hero course."
The teal haired substitute nodded as he quickly wrote out chalked words onto the handheld board.
"Yes, that's why I brought you all here. The reason why this student is here though, is because he was babied. I've already figured that out when I read his student information. However, I like to be proven wrong so feel free to do that, Shinso. You'll all be doing a one verses one mock battle." He told them all before finally turning the small chalk board around to be read.
"Shinso vs Monoma"
"First battle will be between these two. Whoever gets worn out first will lose. You two can take your positions in the center of the gym."

No offense but they're not going to feel too comfortable talking with a socially awkward hero. Eventually you're going to become a grumpy hero like Endeavor who everyone is afraid to talk to.

These sudden musings from Monoma made his ears experience rapture. It was as if he encountered a songbird; every word sounded so pleasant like lyrics from a favorite song. It was alien hearing a soft phrase from the cutting tongue, he felt the tiniest bit special than everybody else that he was one of the few who would ever receive praise from him ... Violet eyes lock themselves with diamonds as if such an action would keep him grounded from being conquered by a daydream. Be that as it may, his heart was out of his control. Aphrodite was tugging at his heartstrings. After all, he was beheld as a hero in someone's eyes, Monoma's eyes; what he brought to life with his voice was proof of that.
And then out of nowhere, he was wreathed by foreign sensations. Warmth fogged up his chest and suddenly he found the process of breathing to be irregular, a bit shaky upon inhaling even the smallest ounces of air in. What spell did he cast on me?
Without warning, Monoma confidence became unfastened. The deeper he trailed with his words, the more distorted they came out to be. His quirk being unfavorable? Why did the universe cloud him with negative notions? Out of impulse, he dedicated every ounce of his mind to architect the right words. Pent up frustrations from his childhood push at his throat and out from his lips; it was rare for certain words to surpass the gates known as his jaws.
"What, or who, even gave you such thoughts? Monoma, don't you ever let anything, anyone, deem the worthiness of your quirk. Alright? One must be a villain if they define a person by their quirk."
A pause before he answers.
"Never have I heard you spew idiocies before Monoma ... You know I'll always trust heroes with good intentions."

Monoma didn't usually let himself fall down emotionally, not in public at least. People knew him as the loud and obnoxious student from class 1-B but surely there was more to him than that and Shinso was seeing it. Perhaps he was that comfortable around him that he allowed his guard to be down with him.
He was a bit surprised by the other's reaction, his words even awakening some butterflies within his stomach. He was never given such assurance about his quirk's worthiness before. He almost wasn't sure how to react.
He let out a small nervous chuckle.
"Well, I gave me such thoughts because it's true, Shinso. My quirk isn't ideal because I need to touch others to copy. By myself, I don't really have a quirk. I feels like I'm always using people as ladders to get to the top. You though...."
He paused to softly smile at him in admiration.
"You've got to the top all by yourself with your own unfavorable quirk. This is why I have an interest in you, Shinso. You're an inspiration to me."

The explosive student suddenly jumped backwards out of an alleyway and allowed himself to slide into the middle of a street. He didn't understand how he seem to always attract villains everywhere he went. Perhaps his general luck was piss poor or all these villains just wished to die. Bakugo would agree with the last possibility and he'll gladly give them all the death they seek. However, he couldn't deny he was currently struggling. The weather was chilly with guarantee snowfall later in the day. The sweat he was producing that powered his quirk was minimal. This explosive student was ironically lacking explosion. It was absolutely humiliating creating pathetic firecrackers in his hands.
A car honked annoyedly at the obstruction of the road which only got a harsh glare in response.
"Hey fuck you! I'm fighting here!" Katsuki hollered before his red eyes quickly returned his attention to the alleyway he came from, barely dodging the elongated eyelash that shot out and attempted to stab him.
