Ah, thanks~! Yeah, I'm happy the doc let me put it off until tomorrow. And my dad's able to come home two nights early~! He's flying right now from Jakarta to Tokyo, will stay in a capsule hotel for a while, and then will fly from Tokyo either to NY or NJ, and will get here tomorrow night. So he'll be home a little while after I get home from surgery and chemo.

Yeah. His job requires a lot of travelling, so this whole time I've been sick, he's been over in Singapore, theΒ Philippines, and Jakarta. He left on this trip on August 12th, and originally wasn't supposed to get back until this Saturday night, the 14th. Even when he's in the US, his job is based in Arlington, Virginia, so he only comes home on weekends. His next overseas trip is on October 15th.

So how long is he planning on staying with you?

Well, he'll be here Thursday night through Sunday, then he'll drive down to Arlington like usual. Then he'll come back either Thursday night or Friday night, stay the weekend, then drive back down again on Sunday. The cycle will repeat until his next trip, and each trip is usually 4-5 weeks. This is just how it's been for the past 2-ish years. He's gone overseas for a month or so at a time, and then I see him on weekends for a month, then he goes on another trip.

Yup~! It's not as bad as when he spent a year in Iraq and 6 months in Afghanistan, though. Most of the times, we can call him and Skype him and stuff. This trip especially, since he's been 11 hours ahead of us. He calls when he wakes up and is eating breakfast, since that's evening here, and then again before he goes to sleep, when we're waking up for school. Sometimes I worry, since some of the places he goes to are not-so-awesome...Sure, he goes to awesome places like Ireland, Finland, and Lithuania, but he also goes to not-so-awesome places, like Ethiopia, Sudan...

Thanks~! Not the best birthday this year (I'm starting chemo two days after my birthday. I don't have cancer, but I've got a mega-rare disease that can only be treated with chemo.) but I'm still moving onward. I'm surprising everyone, especially the docs and nurses, by not freaking out over this. But freaking out and having a mental breakdown would accomplish nothing, so I don't do it.
