*poke* Hi!

Do you want to be a background character in the scene for Guther's fashion class? (it's the next chapter for CFI) The girl character in the scene I came up with might fit for you since I could see you in a fashion design class. I'll show you once I ink the pages.

Okay. I'll send you the pencil version via email, so that I can fix it if you don't like it your outfit. You'll be on the next page twice and maybe on a few pages afterward and possibly in other campus scenes or fashion class scenes later in the series. There's a fight between Law and Star on the next page. I might have your character say something afterward, probably overhearing them fight. Would you side with Law or Star?

Whatever you think would work better for the characters and storyline :3 Even if it involves my character getting flustered and jumping out a window. I doubt that'd happen, but if it works for the storyline, go for it (But based on my personal bias, I'd probably side with Law, but if it doesn't work, then it's fine either way ^.^ )

Oh, and I don't know if you heard this song by Lady Gaga but I'm pretty sure it's about Feminism. [link] It's called Sheisse and It has an awesome beat (it sounds like a good cat walk song for fashion models ). Sheisse means "Shit" in German and by which she means she's not taking anyone's shit any more. At least that's what I got out of it.

It does have a funky beat. *nods*
Me likey (Just as I like just about all of her songs xP )
It's like, "I wish I could be strong without anybody putting me down about it." Which is how a lot of women feel. I mean, you have double-standards and sexist standards everywhere. Like, the slut/virgin thing. If you're a virgin, that means you're too frigid and need to get laid and stop being a bitch. But if you have sex, that automatically means that you're a dirty slut.
And then if women have any sort of independent thoughts or ideas, they're put down. So in a lot of cases (like in the workplace), a woman needs to work twice as hard to get half the recognition that a man gets. And then there's the whole "only 75 cents for every dollar a man makes" thing, which pisses me off.

Gah, I shouldn't be ranting about feminism so late at night/early in the morning. I'll just piss myself off when I should be sleeping xD (Translation: I'll save my feminism rants for when I'm awake enough to spell "feminism" correctly. Actually, I'm spelling it correctly now, but my fingers keep tripping and I keep needing to go back and fix, shmee hee >.< )

Yes, I adore Lady Gaga too. Nearly all of her songs are avocating for something.

It's sad that something as medieval (in a bad way) as the double standard still exsists. Really about the 75 cents thing? I heard it was less than "a man's dollar" but I thought it was more than 75 cents like 85 but still it should be a dollar per dollar. So I can see why you're angry.

Well, I've heard different reports. At one point, back when I was a freshman, I heard sixty-something cents, but these days I've been hearing 75. But the point is that it isn't equal.
In some places, society really has come a long way since medieval times. Yet I shake my head at people.
Did I ever show you my outline for my presentation on rape prevention? (The one that I never presented because I was too worried about offending anyone xP Well, not so much about offending anyone as triggering negative emotional responses from more sensitive people in the crowd.)

Right. But how is that legal? Is it only for certain jobs or all jobs? I'm pretty sure that all minimum wage people have to be paid the same unless they're the managers or something.

No, I actually didn't see it but I heard you mention it a few times at lunch last year. A lot of the AP physch projects seemed emotionally involved, or at least the ones I saw were. But I understand why some people might get offeneded even though that seems like something people ought to know if they're an adult.

horse-lady90 In reply to Wildqueenofspirals [2011-08-22 04:23:33 +0000 UTC]

It isn't legal. But people don't notice it and don't get caught. It's usually only for higher-up jobs. Not stuff like working at a supermarket as a cashier or anything. I need to do a bit more research though. Check out www.feministing.com because you seem like a real feminist to me They've got a lot of commentary on a lot of issues.

Yeah, but it was a high school setting xP There was a certain part that I had to take out entirely because it had so many swears in it (not for the purpose of swearing, but for the purpose of showing the differences between derogatory names for women versus derogatory names for men).

You know, I think you're right. I just didn't know I was a Feminist. You might like Emilie Autumn. She's a bit extreme but she still kicks ass. Also she reminds me of the Ren faire. You'll see what I mean when you hear the songs. Here's some of her songs [link] [link] [link] [link] I booked marked the site as a favorite. I checked it out and it was interesting.

Oh, That would do it. I'm not surprised if there are many more bad names for women than there are for men, of course.

horse-lady90 In reply to Wildqueenofspirals [2011-08-23 02:43:00 +0000 UTC]

A lot of people are feminists and just don't know it. Most people are. Feminism is just the fight for equal rights, plain and simple. not a game between men and women, not a battle of the sexes, not a cult of man-hating lesbians... just the desire for equality, but with an emphasis that "equalist" just doesn't really cover.

I like Emilie Autumn. Her voice is pretty and the first song was kind of humorous. I'll listen to the others later. But me gusta

As for the bad names, before I took that part out of the paper, I went around the Commons asking people I knew derogatory names for men. They couldn't come up with that many. Collectively, the list was smaller than my list for derogatory names for females that I had thought of by myself. And most of the insults had to do with a man's masculinity. I could go on, but it would take pages to write >__<

Hmmm. That makes sense. It took me forever to figure out that I supported Gay rights and some pro Environmental movements. True, There are many sane activists. We're not all nut cases who refuse to see anything but our cause. I can't wait to get to campus and start working on projects and ideas with other people for fighting for equality. Sorry, America, but you're not free by the definition that suits our changing society.

I thought you might like her so I sent some songs your way.

You don't have to list them out for me but just on my own I can think of TONS of slurs against women but not really anything particularly against a man.

horse-lady90 In reply to Wildqueenofspirals [2011-08-23 03:10:48 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I plan on chilling at the campus Women's center a lot. Well, if I have time. Most activists are sane, but the nutcases are remembered more, because they're so out of the ordinary.
Yeah, America, where all men are created equal. But not women. Or gays. Or races besides white. Or poor people. Or children. Or non-Christians. Or people outside the gender/sexuality binary. So sad.

I like her a lot! Thanks for showing me her songs! *listening to Rose Red over and over again*

I can only remember four off the top of my head. One has to do with sexuality, and three have to do with body parts. One is male (by cisgender standards) and not emasculating, one is gender-neutral and not emasculating, and the third is female (by cisgender standards) and horribly emasculating.

The thing about sexism is that it hurts men just as bad as it hurts women. Men are called wimps (or a bad word equivalent) or feminine or "not-male" for crying or something, and then they can never get in touch with their feelings, which is very unhealthy. When it comes to suicide, more men actually go through with it than women. Women give the overt warning signs and can get help, but men are taught to hide their feelings, so they don't get help, so they commit suicide. (Of course, every individual is different, but this is the general trend.)

Me too, Possibly. I'll also be checking out the pride room and the cultural center.

I've heard about the whole trend thing for suicide. It is rather disturbing. I wish that everyone was allowed to reasonably show some real emotion once in a while without being ridiculed. Anyone who is always happy is hiding something. Not Crying over something isn't strong. I personally think crying makes you stronger because it might help you get over whatever it is that upset you in the first place. I think I might take some psychology classes on campus, maybe next semester, once I figure out what my major is gonna be.

horse-lady90 In reply to Wildqueenofspirals [2011-08-23 23:24:23 +0000 UTC]

Psychology is definitely a good class to take.

The suicide trend is horribly disturbing. That's part of why my dad's friend does this thing called the Mankind project (MKP). It's kind of like feminism, in a way, but it focuses on men, masculinity, and emotions. Men are always brought up to be emotionless, so this group gets together and spreads, well, emotion, and the message that it's okay for men to experience emotions. And there's this big initiation to get into the group (it's kept a secret) so basically all I know is that when my dad and brother got initiated, they went through about three days of sweat lodges, emotional trials, therapy-ish, and stuff like that. So people ARE taking action, which is a good thing!

Then I shall take it, if my schedule is allowing.

That's really interesting and it's good to hear that something is being done to try and help them. I don't know who started a lot of society's deadly traditions such as "Men don't cry" and "Girls shouldn't be independent." But how could have they thought that it wouldn't be damaging to people!?! Conformity is a dangerous pressure on many people.
