well, thanks very much for the kind words, first of all! i mostly use the regular hard round brush and the regular soft round brush for everything. sure, there are custom brushes that does hair, but you don't really need them. start with a big brush and work in layers, more and more details. it's all about blending colours when it comes to skin, change the opacity on your brush to about 20% and mix colours until you find the one you want. google the artists Sycra Yashin and Matt Kohr, and watch all of their videos. they are great and very educational. (i also link to them in my journal.) i also keep a sketchbook with me at all times - i have three! - so that whenever i'm on the bus or whatever i can practice. i don't really know how to do a tutorial though, since my paintings take such a long time to paint and there's soooo much happening at all times. like, i work a little bit on a hand, then i switch to an eye, then maybe back to the hand again, then the chest, maybe a leg.. i'm not very structured if you have a specific painting of mine in mind i would be able to be a little more specific. and thanks again for your kind words!

Thanks a bunch I will be looking at that for sure. The one that I really love of yours is One... and two... This is the type of painting I want to do One...s skin and hair are so amazing like I can draw that in pencil or charcoal but doing it on the computer I am still far from it. A few I have done is just using the Burn tool and Dodge tool but I can't get it to go more in depth but ill be taking a look at Sycra Yashin and Matt Kohr today so thank you for the advice and I love your newest work The pendant that's what led me to your wonderful art work I was so astonished with the skin and hair. As its the style that I have been trying to do but mine look to soft. And yeah I do understand that they take a long time mine do as well a few take hours. Funny how I can do it in a half hour or less with the traditionals hope they make it as simple in the future.

oh, One and Two! well, i didn't have a tablet then. i had to paint it all with a mouse! every strand of hair is painted with a one- or two-pixel brush and it took for fricken EVER! i actually have step by step pics of how i painted them, here they are [link] but here's a great video by a guy called Daarken [link] where he paints fur with only the round brush. hair is long fur! you'll see that he starts by painting big blocks of fur/hair. then he uses a smaller brush to get more and more detailed.

yeah that's where I'm still at painting the hair by each strand I found a nice hair brushes on here they seem to be helping just need to get the hang of it. Almost finished with one drawing I just hope it looks good >.< but got a really bad hand cramp so its going to have to wait. Thanks for the step by step its gorgeous. The lines are so perfect did you start in Illustrator first? I don't know which is considered best sketching the PS or lining in illustrator

nooooo, forget the hair brushes! you seriously don't need them! see, painting every hair on someone's head is pointless. all we need to see is the shape and some stray strands here and there. our brains will make the connection. special brushes are good because they'll speed up your work flow, they're like shortcuts. but you're still learning and your work will become better if you don't use special brushes. and work on big canvases!

the lines were made with the line tool in photoshop because all i had was the mouse. the line tool was just quicker. if you want to sketch, just do it in psp. i use the hard round brush, 8 pixels, 60-70% opacity. i did a before and after image here [link] and i think the After image looks much much better. what do you think?

Oh okie sadly I did do all every strand *twitch* I'll have to look up some hair tutorials but here's what I got done today I can always go back and do the hair again at some point. [link] tell me what you think and where I can improve as I still fill that's its just to soft I even followed a tutorial and no ware near that level yet *tear*.

i've always wanted to do a paintover video, where i take someone's painting and go over it and paint while i talk about it. would you be up for that? i can post it on youtube and you can look at it as many times as you like. i've never done it before so it might get REALLY weird, but i think we will both learn from it.

great video and no i could not tell you were from Sweden

The nose and everything is sketched from the original and her eyes did look like that as well that's why i chose the picture was I had always liked her eyes

The reason I have hard time is my tablet don't have pen presser so getting the fine tips on the eye lashes is a bit harder to do as well as the hair I can't go large on the brush

and the hot keys for making the brush bigger and smaller are...
