# About me

I was born. I drew things. I got into comics because of Jim Lee. I used to draw only from my imagination. I found out that oil paint was not just for the Old Masters because of Bob Ross. I realized that if I want to really get good, then I need to "put in that work." Ten years ago I stopped taking breaks from art and started drawing from life. I learned about George Bridgman & the Art Students league of New York. I am testing the idea of 10,000 hours to mastery. I am at about 6,000 hours. A couple years ago, we moved from Georgia to Denver, CO for me to study art at the Art Student's League of Denver. I work a "normal" job and have a wife & kids. I study art when I make the time. Right now each week that looks like 12 hours of uninstructed figure drawing, 15 hours of painting at home, hours reading books, and listening to art podcasts / instructional videos while working.
