1. How many species of roses are there? Over 100, doesn’t specify number. i.e. Cinnamon Rose, Musk Rose, Swamp Rose, etc…

2. Do roses have anything interesting about them? They carry plant diseases and pests, i.e. Crown Gall, Hairy Root, black mold, brand canker, etc…

3. Can you make things out of roses? OF COURSE! You can make perfume, rose water (which is used for cooking, cosmetics, medicine, and in religious practices). You can even make food out of roses, i.e. Rose syrup, rose scones and rose marshmallows. With “rose hip” (fruit) you can make jam and tea.

4. Rose thorns? Rose thorns aren’t just for protection. They’re for helping the rose hang onto other vegetation when it grows over it. Why it does that, because when the whether is windy, it sticks onto the plant or whatever it grew over it, and it’s perfectly fine!

5. What are roses used for?
Decoration, perfumes, cooking, and minor medicinal uses.

6. Meaning of rose colors?
Red: love and affection, congratulations, courage.
Dark red: Deep passion.
Light Pink: Gentleness, Joy and Grace.

Roses

Roses are one of the most interesting flowers, in my opinion. I find them to be
the most beautiful flowers in the world! I will be trying my best to find the most interesting, accurate, and fun (mostly just for myself) information just for this essay…. thing…. yeah… There will be some information I cannot find, and I don’t own any books on roses, so information will be hard to find unfortunately.

So, on the information I found so far, there are A LOT of medicinal uses.
Such as, roses have been used for medicinal purposes for centuries. China had used roses for traditional medicine and stomach problems. They are now being studied as a natural remedy to stop cancer growth. I wonder how that’s going for them. Rose petals can be used as a remedy for diarrhea, coughs, colds, sores, nervous tension, and painful joints. Rose water is used for eye inflammation and to strengthen the heart. Rose oil, or rose attar or even Otto, is used to soothe irritated and chapped skin.

Some weird facts about roses, the rose is in the family with fruits, such as,
apples, pears, cherries and even almonds. Also, rose petals turned out to contain more vitamin C than most fruits.
