hey i like your stuff...i was looking at the platform 12 ad you did in flash and think its incredible. I was wondering if you could tell me quickly how you can "cut the shapes" out of the white layer revealing the background like you did. I want to do something with a similar idea. Thanks!

Hey Steve, wow kinda random how my comments the last one still there after all this time. I'm a few weeks shy of graduating my design course and slightly freaked out by the prospect of having to find a job, doesn't seem to be a lot on offer in christchurch especially for grads. I've made a few contacts so hopefully I can use those to my advantage. I am planning on heading to oz or the uk in the next year to get some more experience. How is the industry over there at the moment?

hey I like your gallery very diverse. So you used to tutor at natcoll in auckland I'm guessing, I start a graphic design diploma at the chch campus in a couple of weeks I hope it's not a let down in terms of the quality of the course any thoughts?

You will get out of the course what you put in. I suggest networking with potential employees before the end of your course, thereβs a lot of qualified designers out there that canβt get work not through lack of skill but the industry can support the amount of qualified people, particularly in Christchurch I due to its smaller population would think.
The quality of the course is second to none and you will learn all you need to know to survive in the world of design, hell I wouldnβt be writing this to you right now had I not gone to Natcoll and studied, so donβt be put off by that, just be prepared to stand out. Or come to London, thereβs a HUGE amount of jobs here..!!

thanks for that it's really helpful, I completed their secondary schools course while I was still at school so that's kinda lead me onto do the diploma. Most people I've talked to said it's really full on which suits me I aren't getting loaded to the eyeballs with debt to come out of it badly so hopefully with a lot of hard work I can come out of it well. Might venture overseas at some stage too just depends what the next year brings but having someone in the know tell me that really helps so thanks

lol did'nt have much contact with steve, but yeah I'm finding it hard to find some work x.x theres a position in a game studio for an advanced character animator but thats for 3ds max so I'm gonna study that sometime

I majored Web and it took me about 8 Months to get a job. First time looking you usually dont get jobs that are advertised, Its best to send cv's/cd's, ask for work experience in Production companies (shows ya super keen and passionate bout it). Any Contacts you have through friends and Family are good.
Yeah learning 3D Max is a good Idea. Alot of tv ads in nz are done in 3d Max. Although LW is more accepted these dayz. Keep on truckin, and keep learning!!! (Most of the stuff I know now is self taught)
Maybe you should write a letter to natcol if you are pissed off about failing on a small thing like attendance, explain you were sick and are really keen to complete the course and seen what they reply. You might be able to go back and finish off in a week or something...??? I personally dont think it really matters, its just a bit of paper after all.

Yeah I tried to go back and complete the course shortly after I had Finished, as they didnt except an earily Av Assignment. Went back to edit my "Interview" Project But the Files were currupt and the puter kept crashing. Tutors helped but kept crashing. I just got Frustrated and Flagged it. O well.

For my interview group I held the footage but was unaware that fixes were still needed to be done on the 2nd to last day, so since all our stuff was gonna get deleted I sorta....deleted it, we had ta reshoot well I did'nt ~_~ since it did'nt matter to me I was gonna fail anyway but yeah felt really bad bout wiping our work

I'm a North Shoreman also. Difference between you and
me though is I have yet to get a job. I haven't any official
experience yet, so it's a bit hard to get a job. Especially
because the jobs I'm applying for are quite professional
positions. It's just I know I'd be wasting my potential to
to packing at New World.
With that said, I have decided to just get over myself and
apply at supermarkets. I'm also 50/50 about starting up
my own company (web design). I've already had one client,
but I'm not sure if I should persue it,.
Anyway, that's enough of a life story for now. ;- )
