Haha, in fact the mise en abyme is a technique similar to the one used in your avatar. There is a sense of infinity. You know, the seed grows in the hand and then the plant blossoms and a hand appears, and then the seed in the hand grows again and... etc.

So, it's a kind of infinite embedding if you get what I mean.

I have a tablet. Trust me, the difference it makes is completely and totally useless unless you have the willpower to actually finish an animation.

Animating with a mouse sucks, but if you can't stop procrastinating long enough to finish an animation with a mouse, you're not going to be able to do it with a tablet. Trust me. I know.

i have the will power, its just i can't draw accurately enough with a mouse to do near-repeat sketches, over and over - take my avatar for example, i would make it longer but i can't get the wolf in it to look the same over and over, so i left it short and it still looks alright.

Simple cure for that - copy-paste the same picture into each frame and then edit it. Also, if you have/can get Flash, it has a tool which allows you to look at more than one frame at the same time, letting you kind of 'trace' the last frame or at least take it into account while drawing the next frame.

You won't believe how stupid I felt when I was enlightened to this feature. It makes animating SO much easier.

On the timeline, those little buttons at the bottom? Those one with two overlapping squares? Click on the first one. It's called 'Onion Skin'.
