-yeah,i played ARMA1 and 2 before, but already uninstalled 2 couple of months ago.coz it's a time consuming game, you need to spend quite some times to finish a mission, and also the loading time in multiplayer,so i decided to uninstall it to put more time in my painting ^_^
but it's still the best FPS game for me.
-there's just one game left in my PC,Battlefield Bad Company 2.coz i can just spend not more than half hour to finish a game in multiplayer,so i play it sometimes when i really free and don't feel like drawing.
-and i just ordered my copy of Medal Of Honor, thought i'm not going to play game anymore, but after watched some videos in youtube,i decided to buy the game......

That looks really cool I like to be able to control the helicopter though. I used to play BF 1942, and I always piloted the hind. I got really good at flying that thing! It's the coolest looking helicopter.

-yeah,the game looks great.i hope i can pilot the Apache too,but you can just be the weapon officer in the front seat.i just got my copy this morning, and almost finish the campaign.......i love Russian's hind to,it looks unique.but i still prefer fighter jet more than gunship.

Hey John, you said you've done 3D stuff before right? What did you think of it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jktaylor844 In reply to Kaikumach [2010-08-04 03:01:58 +0000 UTC]

The only 3-D I've done really is Z-Brush. I love Z Brush, but I didn't have the processing power to really run it at the time, and the 30 day trial ran out. It's by far the easiest to learn; at least for me it was. It's just like sculpting with clay, only digital.

Kaikumach In reply to jktaylor844 [2010-08-04 03:16:29 +0000 UTC]

OMGOMG ZBRUSH!!! I should really try it out some day. They have a 13 month renewable student version of Mudbox. It's Autodesk's rip off of Zbrush. Anyway, the reason I was asking was 'cause I was wondering how many 3D artists suck at drawing like me :S

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jktaylor844 In reply to Kaikumach [2010-08-04 04:56:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, everyone "sucks" at drawing. I mean, you never perfect it, and you never stop learning. It's all relative buddy.

Here's an excellent study. Grab a detailed anatomy book, and construct an anatomically correct human body from scratch (start with bone, then add muscle, then add skin etc...)in Z Brush, or a similar program. I've never done it... But as a sculptor, I would assume you'd be able to draw incredibly accurate pictures, because you begin to think in a 3 dimensional space. I think that working in 3d will exponentially improve your drawing ability

When I do my gray scale drawings, It's like 2d sculpting. You can pull and push based on value, then you can just slap on color if you feel like it.

I concur! I've been meaning to buy this anatomy book by Eliot Goldfinger. Ever heard of it?

jktaylor844 In reply to Kaikumach [2010-08-04 15:05:16 +0000 UTC]

Never heard of it... The one I use, and would recommend is: "Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist" by Stephen Rogers Peck. It's like $15, and it's very detailed. Lots of good pictures. I don't think you can go wrong though, as long as you like the pictures in the book. I don't read them, I just draw all the pictures.

Lol. Thanks man. I'm so honored! You don't have to downplay your own work though As long as you're always doing the best you can, that's all I ask! Keep it up! It's looking good. Don't stop doing art!

my pleasure! i couldn't get the scene out of my head, and finally decided to spent an hour on it, just getting it off my mind...
don't worry, i'm not downplaying myself, just trying to be modest. regarding the fact what kick-ass artists are out there (including you my friend ), i just don't want to appear arrogant..... there is still a damn lot to learn...

that said, lets continue to do art!

jktaylor844 In reply to Kaikumach [2010-05-30 07:31:04 +0000 UTC]

A few easy ways to test out different lighting scenarios is to drop the painting down to one layer, duplicate it, and then set the layer on top to multiply. Then you can erase away where there is light. Or if you'd prefer to paint. Make a new Hard Light layer on top of where you're working, and paint your shadows with a dark blue... Like a 2 on the value scale. Hope this helps buddy
