Thanks a lot Jon! This is the way my style has evolved and this is the way I'm going to keep it. I've been stuck for too long in 'clean lines' style for no reason and you're right about the lineart being more alive and spontaneous with my new way of working. A lot of staring at traditional Chinese and Japanese brush painting taught me a lot about spontaneity and loving the brush work, seeing it on the page. Glad you noticed and you appreciate!

oh yes, i'm a big fan of hosukai and other japanese watercolour artists - if you haven't already, it's also worth checking out moebius's work - he used to draw his strips on the fly alot, direct in ink - he's got such a huge body of work and uses so many styles over the decades, it's difficult to knw what to recommend if you aren't aware of his work

much of his concept illos and individual pieces are outstanding - for his more spontanous work, maybe "madwoman of the sacred heart", the older "upon a star", and perhaps "the incal"
