Hey, just wanted to thank you for the compliment you gave my linework on ~laurichg 's page (the shaded Nia). You said her body was perfect...I think I screwed up the feet, but thanks for your words because that's what I was going for... the perfect looking babe. If you want to see how hot Nia really is, you have to go to my page and check out my latest piece, "Sexy Nia"! It's fully colored and I'm quite proud of it.

When I have more time I'll scope out your gallery. Thanks again!

I thought I would give your the background for the shading pieces that I did with fallenangel77. The two of us have had a running dialog about shading since I joined DA. I had continued to harp (I know I was driving him nuts with it!) on him about how important tonal ranges can be in artwork, so I had asked him if I could show him what shading can do for a drawing. That area between the mountains and the city is a body of water, the reason I did not shade it very much if at all was because I wanted to make sure that Nia was the focal point of the drawing. If I had spend time on the water, it would not have been as obvious that Nia was the focal point of the drawing that fallenangel77 had spent that time drawing. I read a good analogy of a painting a few months ago that went something like this: A painting is like a band. You need a front man, the band, and the backup singers. The front man is the focal point of the drawing (Nia in this case), the city is the band, and the mountains are the backup singers. The duty of the band and the backup singers is to support the font man, that's why I shaded the drawing the way I did. I do see your point on the ground shadow, I could have spent more time on that. Good eye! Collabs are kind of fun. I'd do more but I'm freakin busy right now. I started one mural for my church, just finished the design for the second, and then there is work family fall semester at college, the painting I'm working on, and and and... AHHHHHH However once the murals are done, I'd be happy to shade or color or otherwise abuse one of your drawings. Could be a fun workgroup thing...
