Jeffrey, Your RainGame.exe works fine outside of the skin I am using. below is what I thought would work.

PlusHover]
Meter=Image
ImageName=RMOFF.png
X=490
Y=5
ImageTint=#CMTINT#
MouseLeaveAction=!Execute [!HideMeter PlusHover][!Redraw]
LeftMouseUpAction=!Execute ["C:\Users\Andy\Documents\Rainmeter\Skins\AndysRainmeter\RainGame.exe"]

but It does not. Can you redirect me to what to use. Andy

Alternatively, the account was flagged or deactivated for unrelated circumstances, or the author simply wanted to disable comments because they are tired of reading them.

RainBrowser functionality is now built into Rainmeter. Just left click the tray icon. It is called "Manage" now.

hey jeff ... i just want to say a big thank you for staying on top of all the (or the single ... who knows?) assholes who have hijacked the RM section here. i know it has to be annoying as hell for you to keep reposting and for people not to be heeding the warnings ... but your effort is certainly appreciated! keep on fighting the good fight.

p.s. ... has DA staff made any traction on stopping this kind of thing (if you don't want to reply here, just send me a private note).

cheers!
phil

Okay, seriously bro. Why do you think it's a good idea to warn about malware being in .ZIP files in comments were disabled and the do the exact thing you're warning about.

People are going to comment here about it anyways.

jsmorley In reply to imjustjoking [2012-05-29 01:25:12 +0000 UTC]

Think about it... Wait, I'll type slower. Perhaps as a way to demonstrate what I mean by "comments disabled"?

Second, I am not interested in feeding the troll by having my warning submissions be full of angry comments from users that only give the guy posting the malware a woody.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

imjustjoking In reply to jsmorley [2012-05-29 01:28:50 +0000 UTC]

Fair enough, but why do they have to have a .ZIP attached to them?

I love how you disabled ocmments on the warning when it mentions disabled comments xD
but either way thanks for the warning i didnt know anything about extensions; just about disabled hidden comments

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jsmorley In reply to F45hi0nGravity [2012-05-27 15:42:58 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I disable comments there for two reasons. First to give an example of what I mean, and second as any comments put there are likely to just be feeding the troll.

stupid me downloaded a skin without reading comments, clicked the install, and the button vanished, went back to read comments you posted saying its a virus. If my virus scanner does not detect it how fucked am I?

asyland In reply to lodjr [2012-05-26 17:39:20 +0000 UTC]

You can try Malwarebyte's AntiMalware, Hitman Pro, or Emisisoft Emergency Kit. All three are excellent scanners. If that fails, you can also try a Linux-based rescue disk, like Avira or Kaspersky. Viruses have a hard time hiding from those. If you're still having no luck, head over to bleepingcomputer.com, go to the forums, find the Security forums, and then the "Am I infected?What do I do?" sub-forum for help.

Hi, I caught a forum post where you listed LuaTextFile. I was wondering if you know of anything similar to this that would accurately display color codes on the desktop? Or is this even possible?

This is taskwarrior output piped to a text file with color on. I think they are ANSI codes:

Hey man, been using Dark Rainmeter for a very long time. But now my desktop (AMD Phenom II X4 945 Deneb 3.0GHz ) and the system information is showing 100% all the time. All other rainmeter apps run correctly. The MeasureCPU0-4 (I just copied, pasted, and modified what needed for it to work.) are having a range of 0-1 instead of whatever its normally. Could you please help?

flyingpengwin In reply to flyingpengwin [2012-02-10 01:36:09 +0000 UTC]

Hey, just to try and help anyone else. If you have the same problem as me, go to command prompt (as administrator) and type "lodctr /r" (without "") and let it run you should get "Info: Successfully rebuilt performance counter setting from system backup store"

This should fix your problem.

It's a nice jesture I guess to try and warn people about downloads that may have a virus, but wouldn't it be easier to get with the DA staff and say won't you guys start doing virus auto scan of packages that are being uploaded from now on to catch virus uploaders before they do any damage. I think this would be something better handled by DA initially so the users aren't having to worry about it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jsmorley In reply to hattjmh [2011-12-14 13:00:18 +0000 UTC]

There is a scan that is now done on upload of a new deviation, but it is pretty ineffective as any reasonably well hidden virus seems to get by it. In any case, it really does no good to try to work with the deviantART staff on this issue, as they are understaffed and overwhelmed and to be honest see uploads of virus / malware to the site as a low priority. They are more concerned with child porn and DCMA/copyright issues and have taken the view that users need to be careful about what they download and have the primary responsibility in this matter.

hattjmh In reply to jsmorley [2011-12-14 13:32:46 +0000 UTC]

That's a shame. I know a lot of the other sites I surf have really good built in protection - it would be nice to see DA do something similar. Oh well, I was just curious. Thanks for clearing it up for me.
