i sent it to you in a note lol, but basically it is an artisan and crafters magazine, and i happened to notice that you do several different mediums of art, and you do commissioned art as well. I actually met you through an add you had for photography, i was looking for a photographer for myself. anywas the articl is about family and friends, Our friends and family are so important to not only who we are and our overall health, but also to our work and the success we enjoy because of our work. This section will be all about how our friends and family inspire and contribute to our craft and our work.

no i will type up the article um lets do it like an interview lol, first tell me a little about yourself, what type of art you most enjoy, how long you have been doing it, where'd you learn to do it. I know your a commissioned artist so tell me a little about that. I know your a mlitary wife as well, does your spouse inspire you any? is he helpful?

I grew up in a small town of less than 500 people in the Maine mountains and woods. Most of the citizens were my family members and distant relatives. I have been drawing sense I was two years old. My mother said I would come to her with drawings of my room and it would look so similar she couldn't believe it. I am mainly a self trained artist, talent runs in my family and I have multiple relatives that are artists. I was published in a calendar for my father's company when I was six years old. Then published again for art and poetry in one magazine and two books at age 12 and 13. I also entered the Fryeburg fair with my drawings, paintings and ceramic paintings from age 9 to 15. My first commision was an oil painting for my great uncle at age 13. My next commision works were small simple drawings for friends. I have also done mascot designs and a family drawing that commisioned for $150 at age 19. I have only had a little training in oil painting around age 16 from the artist(and my cousin) Allen Hutchinson who was trained in oil paints by a prodigy of Picasso. I used a lot of the country life to inspire my work. Growing up learning a lot of artistic mediums including non traditional creative paths like canned goods, gardening, snow sculptures, country crafts, etc. I can attribute that to my mother and grandmother who would travel long hours throught the backwoods to find boughs to make homemade wreaths, moss, birch branches for homemade candleholders, etc. I can thank my very supportive father who bought me my first french easil at just 13 years old. Both my parents for sending me to a small(13 student max) private school were I was allowed full creative expression and allowed college level art courses, and was a kindergarden art teacher at just 16 years old. This is probably why I continued and grew so much in so little time. I also spent almost a whole year working at Hobby Lobby as the head of the art/hobby department and a fill in for custom framing.
I met my husband the end of my sophmore year and he was very supportive and enjoyed art as well. We didn't marry until 2008 after he completed the marine corp boot camp. For about the first year and a half of our marriage I spent more time focusing on our relationship having our first child and transitioning to a military life(something I thought I would never do). After I got pregnant with our second(following a miscariage the first week of my husband's first deployment) and our second's heart defects and heart surgery, I really got back into my art. I had experienced so much that was bringing me back into past hurts that I longed for more creative ways to help me recover and move on. I have so much to look back on and look forward to and my husband is amazingly supportive. He knows that just like a military wife must be fully supportive of what her husband does an artist's husband must be supportive of his wife's creativity. I definately use my family and friends as inspiration. But I also love trying to recreate realistic images. I seem to see so many artists now relying too much on computers. Anyone can learn how to click buttons and manoover a mouse to make a beautiful peice of art, but not many people can use a simple pencil and peice of paper and create a beautiful peice of art, I believe it takes pure and natural talent to do traditional art, nothing against digital artists, but it just all looks too similar to me. I want to see how the hands move the medium, I want to be able to tell which artist has created the peice with definate characteristics.

I'll read through it and see what other questions i have, would you be okay with having a few of your pieces of art published? This piece I am doing is just a test piece for them to hire me, if they were to use it, i would need consent to use the info as well as any pieces of art you would like to insert. is that ok

It's passiononpaper1@aol.com. I will be sure to do that and I'm sure I will like it. Lol, I think I looked into applying to the same magazine under money saving or recycling ideas and art. Haven't decided yet though, I think they need a history in art and how it relates to modern art.
