Np, it looks really awesome, I am amazed What material is that? Do you have a blog or know where to turn to see more about the process? Would love to give something like that a try someday.

No, I don't have a blog or anything. I'm always so disorganized I often forget to document my process. But I'm always willing to answer questions.

You could totally start a youtube account on that note
But take the one I added to my favorites as example; Is everything green made from sheet metal or is it mostly block plastic? ( is there plastic underneath? )

Matsucorp In reply to kiblad [2015-02-24 17:52:40 +0000 UTC]
Actually it's mostly plastic and resin. I paint it silver first, then green, this helps me giv it convincing metallic weathering effects.

I looked up some videos on that, pretty cool stuff. And nice work on the finish, fooled me. Guess it's not your first time ^^
But do you use a mold then or do you make a block of it and cut it into shape?

Matsucorp In reply to kiblad [2015-02-25 03:36:58 +0000 UTC]
I use a combination of molds and scratch building.

Quite welcome! May I ask, do you do this for a living, digital painting?
π: 0 β©: 1
FJFT-Art In reply to kiblad [2014-09-06 10:11:47 +0000 UTC]
Probably the best approach is to say that I'm semi professional, because not all of my earnings come from the digital paint.
Thank you very much for your interest. Cheers

The fact that you are working on a game cought my eye. Looks pretty nice, you are developing it in udk4 I figure?

If you mean the pieces for "Praetorian Defiance" unfortunately that project was closed some time ago, and you are right, we were going to use the UDK engine for that game.

No problem, looks really good. Is it all your work or did you use plugins like makeHuman etc.?

Conlaodh In reply to kiblad [2014-04-24 14:21:17 +0000 UTC]
I use Daz Studio for my artwork; I've just modified some of the available models a bit for my work. I'm not a 3D modeler, just a renderer.

Do you know any good place to find props then?

Conlaodh In reply to kiblad [2014-04-26 17:43:53 +0000 UTC]
For Daz Studio, the Daz site is the best place ... Renderosity or Runtime DNA are also quite good.

Do you buy a lot of models then?

I do ... over the last few years I've spent more than I care to think about on this hobby.

Sounds like most other hobbies Im afraid ^^ Just surprised to hear there aren't more free models out there. Or you have no interest in making them yourself? It's been a while since I tried but it's really fun, although very hard as well
π: 0 β©: 1
Conlaodh In reply to kiblad [2014-04-28 13:35:10 +0000 UTC]
Forgot to mention some of the free model sites. There are some, although I don't visit them much unless I'm looking for a specific item and can't find it anywhere else. ShareCG has some free models, and Renderosity has a free area too. Occasionally there are some quite decent items there.
I've never tried 3D modeling, although there have been times I've been tempted to look into it. Not sure whether I'd have the aptitude (or patience) for that. What did you use for making models? Blender?

kiblad In reply to Conlaodh [2014-04-30 05:48:53 +0000 UTC]
Sharecg looks nice. And yes, I used blender. It's really nice, haven't used the latest patch so much but it has a built in path-tracer etc., pretty cool stuff ^^ There is a lot of tutorials on their page if you are interested
