why is there so much pain?
(some of the crap friends and well i guess myself have gone through kills me. why is everything so messed up? rape, abuse, death, drugs, rejection, and most of all, all the self mutliation. everyone is so broken.)

That's an answer that's different for everyone. Some that are far more religious than I would say that their God is testing us, I say it's all circumstance and just to focus on that tiny ray of light at the end of the tunnel, and talk to someone outside the situation so that you have some stable ground to stand on. Otherwise, you'll not only want to drive your car off a cliff, you'll actually do it, and that's the last thing anyone wants. (Wow, that was a really long reply for me.)

You shouldn't feel guilty. It's normal to not want to talk about things that make us unhappy. Some of us don't want to burden another, or maybe think it's private, and shouldn't be shared. I'm just glad you did let it out finally. It gets hard to hold all that negative emotion.

there is so much pain out there, is it really right to burden someone else with your own crap? seems selfish somehow. but maybe not, i guess in its own way, i've kinda found being there for someone else helps pull you out of your own misery. changes your focus in someways. idon'tknow.

I thought that once, too. It's sort of a double edged sword, really. In some ways, keeping the misery close is selfish in its own right, because the people who care hate to see you suffer, and not talking about it makes them watch it. I learned that one the hard way.
Other people's problems do tend to make ours look smaller for a time, when we're with them, but I've found that once I'm alone with my thoughts, I tend to think of both theirs and my own, and it can get overwhelming, because I want to help them, but when you're already miserable, it can make matters worse. I found the best cure for my depression was to simply remove myself from the situation entirely. Once I had the ability, I did.
