In the history thing on the "Who Needs Sanity?" website, the "Mirror Lake on the edge of Ansem" is mentioned.
Is "Ansem" by chance a reference to Kingdom Hearts or did you just simply choose the name?

No reference at all. The other area's name is Mesna and Ansem was the mirror name of it backwards.
