Wow Thanks!! I was at the local farmers market and saw some bottle stoppers someone was selling and I said to myself "I can do that". I had an old shopsmith that can be used as a lathe so I made some Christmas presents. I then found a local club and started seeing some of the amazing pieces that could be made on the lathe and I was hooked!!!

Right now I would have to say my favorite thing to make is the peppermills. I love that I can make something so beautiful that will get used regularly! I really want to work more on the bowls though. Glueing up the blanks for the peppermills take such a long time, but I still love the end result!

and with good reason! they are very lovely! i love that you use your talents productively. being able to create something that has purpose as well as beauty is something not everyone has a gift for. i really admire that. whats on your to do list besides the bowls?

I purchased some rare earth magnets, so I want to try turning a bunch of wooden refrigerator magnets for stocking stuffers. I also want to work on making a matching set of dinner plates, and see how well they hold up to getting used.

oh, that sounds awesome!! if the plates hold up i would love to see you make a tea set. that sounds like it would be fun. where did you get the magnets?

I don't remember where, I have had them sitting around for a while. Funny you mention a tea set, a couple of months ago my local club had a demonstrator who makes wood turned tea pots (handle and all!).
