Got out to central Australia (outback) around Alice Springs a few weeks back. Great landscape. Currently living in Melbourne however spent about 20 years in rural Victoria where both my kids grew up. Canada is pretty impressive & I'd love to visit it one day, maybe.....

My dad played Footy here in the Canadian League for ten years, he just semi-retired from playing this year (he's the world's oldest player...62!!!) And most of the guys on the team are rowdy, good fun Australian guys. Plus I've been to Australia about five years ago and it was just unbelievable; I've been itching to go back ever since
Anyways, you gave me an awesome boost, too! Can't wait to see more...Have an awesome week!

Yeah, it's pretty amazing, considering most players retire after they're 30, 35 max!
I would love to go back to Australia. We were mostly in the southeast: Sydney, Cairns, and Coff's Harbour. It was such a surreal trip! Was in New Zealand with my family last December, in the South Island, and wow...what a trip!!! Met lots of Aussies there, of course, since you're just a hop skip and a jump away! Would love to visit Perth and Queensland and the west, though. Almost 35 years ago (O-O"), my dad backpacked the world for 5 years, and lived in Australia for almost two. I think of all the places he traveled, and he's been almost everywhere, Aussie's his home.
Pretty crazy, since he's totally a hot-climate, desert, blistering heat sorta guy, and we live in Canada! We have wicked hot summers, but we're almost in winter now and boy is it getting cold!
He's going back in December actually, and crossing a small desert in the far west. He would've done the Simpson desert but couldn't get three weeks off work xD
But yeah, Sydney was incredible! The Opera House, the docks, the beautiful buildings and awesome welcoming people. The Botanical Gardens were gorgeous (with lots of friendly flocks of cockatoos!) There was so much amazing stuff to see and do and discover. And Hyde Park! The lovely walkway and those huge trees..Watching people play life-size chess for hours...

Wow your dad really does sound amazing - I'd love to travel around the country more... I find that as Australians we're always trying to get out of the country as soon as possible as we're told from the beginning how far away from everything we are. Unfortunately we spend so much time away we rarely explore our own backyard
Wow - I think you've seen more of Sydney than me ^_^ Where was the giant chess set? I don't think I've seen one here... The city keeps changing though - I went away for a about a year and it was amazing how many improvements were made while I was gone
