That's how it is for a lot of people. They need experience or inspiration.
Perhaps you're just trying to write about the wrong things when you try to write outside of personal experience, but perhaps not. I know that for me the writing never goes away. I actually own over 100 notebooks full of pieces...

Have you considered joining a writer's group where you live?

All types of stuff. I'll write everything and anything if asked. Yesterday I wrote a ghost story. Then I wrote the main story behind it. I've been working on a fantasy/Sci-fi trilogy which I'm taking slowly. Crime fiction novel. It needs some more research done on it though, so it's only half done. You can get a feel for some of my poetry on here, but it's not even close to half, or the extent of subjects.

I've written dark, and light. Love, hate, self-destruction, magic, ghosts, worlds upon worlds, My newest project is a switch on the God/Devil story.

Wow. How do you find the time to do this? Very amazing.

I've written about how I feel. I know that is really broad but it is true. Whenever the words "write about it" crosses my mind, I can usually throw out some interesting stuff about me and how I react to things or how I overcome problems.

It is a little different than most other people!

It's not about finding time for me. Writing is a basic part of me at this point. The real question should be how do I find the time to do anything else.

I think a lot of people are like that. At least the ones that I know... It's easiest to write about something you know well, and when an emotion hits you it's the best time to write about it.

But that's interesting. Do you ever write about something so personal, you don't want anyone else to see it?

About personal stuff, I usually don't worry about other people reading it. I incorporate vagueness so people sometimes don't even realize it is me I'm talking about. If that makes any sense...

Yeah, I think it does make sense.

But I think everyone eventually has something that they never want the world to see. It's funny. Why would we write something down if we didn't ever want it seen... Probably to remind ourselves. To get it off of our chests? To have the physical proof? I don't really understand why but I know it is done quite often, even by me.

The vagueness helps to deter questions and looks but it doesn't stop them. And it never stops the feelings you have when remembering.
