It was not only the fact that one day I tried to list all the things the Democrats had said they would do, and didn't, it was the fact that I began to realize how epically they were lying, and how little effort they were putting into it - like they expected they would be believed no matter how ridiculous and over-the-top their lies got, no one would be allowed to gainsay them. Little things like, insisting that a staid and conservative barrister with impeccable credentials and history and 6 FBI background investigations to his name was actually running a gang rape club that had somehow missed everyone's notice for 30-odd years. I was raised a Democrat, voted Democrat, but I was badly hurt one day to realize that there was no way around the fact that, in spite of spending TRILLIONS of dollars they had not improved the lives of ANYONE - that blacks were much WORSE off than they were when Democrats started, that their policies were actually INTENDED to hurt the country while enhancing their power to bully people, that they were inveterate, proud, constant liars - I couldn't take it any more. These were frank and profitable schemes to pump money out of the people's pockets and into their own. Democrat businesses and concerned made out like bandits on a staggering scale. I couldn't make any more excuses for them. Bill Clinton finally broke me, and I swore I'd never forgive the Democrats for putting the country through that 2-term fiasco. And they have PLUMMETED downhill ever since becoming nastier, crueler, less concerned with ANYONE's welfare, even their own, and even more prone to lying. I started out True Blue, and wound up despising them for being the Marxist haters and fascists they are. Quite aside from the pain they put me through to overcome my early conditioning, I have to despise them the more for the pure anger and hatred that is all that drives them to get out of bed every morning now. The Washington Post is a symptom of a very, very sick bunch of people who have decided THEIR ends justify any and EVERY means, no matter how underhanded, how damaging, how hateful - just so long as it works. I'd weep for what they've become, but I'm too disgusted and inured - and they daily subject me to even more proof of their sickness.

Saw your comments / attempt at reasoning with those idiots, over on that piece about the Trump jet. Figured you deserved a llama for that.

Thanks. Sometimes I like to remind myself that you really can't reason with them. If I go too long without trying, my essential faith in the goodness of humanity reasserts itself...Β Β An eternal optimist, I am.

Thanks, guy! I woke up this morning thinking of my mother-in-law who, at 89, once remarked to me that she was "starting to feel old." And I'm ahead of the curve...

Why, thanks. Yeah, the big 6-0. My kid never calls me anymore. I asked him why and he said, "Dad, I haven't moved out yet..." Good times.
