Is that so? Well, Canada is about to enter it's cold, quiet and depressing season (cold, yes, quiet, sometimes, depressing, of course). 5 million you say? That's quite a rarity, hope people don't forget about Finland in another 10 years.

Hey Lauri!
Finally found someone from Finland I'm from Finland, well, I'm actually mixed. Filipino-Finnish. I don't know the language well no thanks to my Mom Anyhow, how's home?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

las6 In reply to lil-mike [2003-11-14 09:01:06 +0000 UTC]

cold, quiet and depressing.
Filipino-Finnish and you live in Canada? Now that's multinational.

Oh, you wouldn't want to know the language. It's Very difficult to learn anyway. Many many times much more difficult than most languages in general. Plus it's pretty useless. (less than 5 million people know it)

Kitchen is the perfect place for shots as F R E S H N E S S . The light is created by the built-in camera flash.. Set to a high shutter speed and voila.. you'll get amazing details

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

las6 In reply to seb-w [2003-09-16 05:50:42 +0000 UTC]

every time I use flash I get everything in Bright, pure white.
I've tried to set the ISO and Shutter speeds, but generally it's too bright for me. (and the shadows are too obvious & ugly)
it might be even faulty flash on the camera.
Don't really know, cos I never had a camera before.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

seb-w In reply to las6 [2003-09-16 11:00:09 +0000 UTC]

Well I don't know it may be a camera issue.. don't forget each brand gives a different color with the flash too.. Nikon gives a quite white color when Minolta gives more warmer colors..

About shadow, yeah.. that's something you have to deal with.. in my case I was in the sink so I didn't have any shadow, the flash reflected everywhere around.

When using flash and high shutter speeds for macro, I recommend you to use the lowest ISO value as possible, 100 or 50 if you can go that low.

Well anyway, in any other case I never use the flash.. I don't like the colors it gives in regular photos like when shooting at the new baby boy when he's sleeping.. First of all he looks like sick and he doesn't really appreciate such bright flashes..

See you
Seb

las6 In reply to seb-w [2003-09-16 11:10:05 +0000 UTC]

I know. Besides, there is even a note about "shooting" small children/babies on the manual. (My parent's pointed this out. ) Basically, you shouldn't shoot with the flash on, at least from very close.

I personally *hate* flash, but then again, my pics are sometimes shaky or noisy. If my parents want a picture of a person in low-light situation, I usually give the camera to someone else as I don't like taking those flash photos.
So I guess I'll just either have to wait untill they can come up with better optics, Or get enough money to buy a better camera. Otherwise it's generally too dark to get the best results. (or maybe I'm just perfectionist)

But I'll have to try that sink, thanks for the tip!

seb-w In reply to las6 [2003-09-16 11:17:23 +0000 UTC]

Try family picture in a low light situation with a tripod but people shouldn't move at all..
I've learned that 1/30 shutter is the very limit for blur when moving, try with 1/60 and ISO 400 but i bet it'll always gives under exposed pictures and noise if using digital (grain on SLR). Aperture on digicam is usually 2.8 or even 2.0.. 1.8 or lower lenses are way too expensive

Waiting to see the result of your experimentations in the sink Be careful not to have drops on your lens or clean it immediately with special cleaning paper !
