It's not so much of how she is killed, more what happens to her family and how they move on and change and the search for her killer. It's a good read.

It's only really described when she first gets there and again once or twice in the book, but it's nothing like in the movie. I haven't finished it yet, but I don't think they do. You really should, it's an excellent read.
