This software is used for exposure stacking by the ways:

basically you set the camera to continuous shooting and then do 30 sec exposures.
you also need a cable trigger release.

Iv been thinking about buying a 180mm f/3.5 macro lens, or i could get something smaller and use extension tubes I want to get as close as possible but still far enough away to use proper lighting etc, what do you think?

Buy the 180mm or whatever focal length you want.
I am not 100% sure on this but I'm pretty sure adding extension tubes can/may degrade the image quality?
