I'm sorry to hear about your dilemma with the school you're going to be at... I changed schools in 8th grade and lost touch with pretty much all of the friends I'd gone to school with since 2nd grade. That really sucked, it took me a while to make any good friends at my new school!
I really hope you can still keep in touch with your old friends... when you're "growing up", that's when you need your friends the most! I don't know what planet your dad lived on when he was going through high school, but last thing I knew, friends make the whole process a lot more bearable! You really need that sort of support!
