You have no idea. I started a little comic of Azula getting jumped on the street by the White Lock and getting rescued by The Duke, but I lost steam while framing and cleaning it and then school started and I am reading like 300+ pages of research on classical Chinese literature every week...I am in blehtown 5000.

that puts us at about even, right?

I'm actually translating a Yuan Dynasty drama that happens a few years before the battle at Red Cliffs.

wow, no shit? that actually sounds really interesting.
So, are you translating it just as an exercise, or is this first-of-it's-kind work?

Definitely not the first of its kind, but I hope to eventually publish it so I can eventually be a professor of some sort.
It is a pretty sweet story though.

Well I think my professor is actually working on one for a book series, but we'll see what happens.

I wait with bated breath.
...okay not really, but I just like using the word 'bated' so much.

here's your crazy journal tag fulfilled. appreciate it, love it, internalize it--but not really or else you might choke on your computer. [link]

oh, well belated congratulations man. you're officially beating me in just about every contest life has, huh? granted I think you've got a few years head start, but still...

Well thank you. I don't know about all the contests of like, but you're definitely beating me in all the areas related to alcohol since I don't drink. But after I read your message about drinking your friend under the table I had a dream (last night) where I begrudgingly went to a bar with some friends and ended up drinking Budweiser Lime from a shot glass because the bartender continued insisting. I was surprised at how good it tasted because it wasn't horrible which I assume from the commercials, it is. It felt...weird, I was worried when I saw my wife later that night she would smell alcohol on my breath and wonder what was going on...ha ha, dreams

dude, lite beer from a shot glass? Gotta admit, I got a audible chuckle outta that one. Yeah, dreams surely are the strangest of things.
And now I know of course that I come across as a raging alchoholic due to the general communication handicaps we have conversing solely over the internet, but I feel it prudent to backtrack a bit and say I really don't drink that much. I'm probably somewhere between a highschooler who's parents have left for the weekend, and a college frat guy majoring in the easiest possible thing since Daddy's totes gonna hook me up with a job soon as I'm outta here, yo.
Hell, given my Irish family and some of my uncle's list of indulgences (again, not anything bordering problem levels) I'm practically hardline by comparison.

I know man, I mean, I've seen TV and movies I know you don't drink beer from a shot glass, but something weird happened in that dream. My friend had a huge mug of beer though, everything was quite strange.
As far as being a raging alcoholic, I would never dream of such a thing. I mean that idiomatically of course, because I would totally dream about alcoholics, they're definitely on the tamer end of the crazy spectrum of my dreams.
Is your dad going totally going to get you a job when you get out of colleges?
Well I'm Scottish, mostly, so I don't know what that means for genetic determiners...

Oh don't worry about it, I know all about how trippy dreams can be. The last dream I remember having was completely normal in every way, except everyone's ears were purple. Just that. And I was the only one who noticed or cared.
no, my parents (lovingly) dropped me like a bad habit as soon as I graduated Highschool. It's more or less completely sink-or-swim for me, something I'm actually pretty proud of. (though having a job and going to school full time is a bit of a challenge.) Besides, I doubt a guy working as Project Manager for a semi-conductor manufacturer could land me a writing gig in LA. XD
scotts drink just as much as paddies, then sing songs about how much Britain sucks. I'm scotch-irish, so there's twice as much hate for english blood in me than normal.

Oh man, I should put some of my dreams up here. I've written most of them up, I could/should do little sketches on dems too.
I moved out of my parents at 19 and went to Australia for a few years, and school after that was away from home too. I think if you really want to be an adult and an individual you have to get out and away from home. I mean, it's nice to be close and visit and all that stuff, but you've got to be your own island...yeah Simon and G-Funk style.

You totally should. I've done it (once) and it's pretty cathartic. [link]
Australia? Man, that's awesome. I've spent some time in Ireland and Scotland, but mainly I'll stay with relation when I'm there. I'd love nothing more than to just go live in Edinburg for 3 months, during the fringe, and just get a job passing out flyers to pay for going to shows every day.
And you're very right--there comes a time in everyone's life when decisions have to be made. That sink or swim moment is pretty pivotal, even if you don't know it at the time.
