Oh, crazy. I briefly to work for ALARP Oregon, back when it was NERO Oregon. All the LARPers photographed on my page are people you'll probably soon meet (They're players of the Seattle and Oregon chapters). Tell them "Hayley said hi."
Have fun and don't get eaten!

Your ID poem [song?] is... strangely telling of my recent life circumstances. I like that...

The poem was written in the 1200s, by the Persian poet Rumi. Isn't it refreshing to be able to relate to someone across the ages?

Some things never change... I never wanted to live a transient lifestyle. I'm too materialistic for that. I love having stuff. But I've found a way to balance it out. I can live a sort of bohemian semi-nomadic lifestyle, while also being a total consumer whore. Although somehow, I doubt Rumi was suggesting such a thing... ah, well.

You gotta take what you can from poems and leave the rest. That's what I think anyway. You can never know what the poet really meant.

As a wise man once said [before the "special edition" was released], "Many of the truths we cling to depend on our own point of view."

Thanks! I decided it was time to change the avatar, and I finally have an actual name for her! Charlotte De La Croix.

Huh? Charlotte De La Croix. I like it! Are you changing their names to anglo ones?
π: 0 β©: 1
Motorfish In reply to lost-capella [2008-04-14 22:40:15 +0000 UTC]
Yes! I really wanted them to have either French or Spanish (Spain Spanish, Spainards rule!) sounding names. I'm keeping the Inazuma and Ikazuchi monikers as "pirate" names that the two take for themselves, in order to remain anonymous.
So far, I've got:
Inazuma: Esperanza De La Croix
Ikazuchi: Charlotte De La Croix
These of course may change in the future, but for now, I'm pretty happy with these names for each. They're both a bit uncommon names, and they both have a slight upper-society sound to them as well, denoting their herritage and prior social status, at least, that's what I tell myself ^_^
(pronunciation is the lesser-used "croy" rather than the more common "qwa" sound for Croix.)

quick question:
What does inazuma mean?
π: 0 β©: 1
lost-capella In reply to Motorfish [2008-04-16 17:06:38 +0000 UTC]
Ah! Okay. I guess it's been bothering me cuz I realized the other day that the word doesn't have the kanji "den" (lightening) in it, or any other lightening-related character. I tried to look it up in all of my Japanese dictionaries, but couldn't find it. It's probably just an onomatopoeia then, like "kaboom" or "shaazam", so in that case it would be written in katakana instead of kanji. Anyway Sorry to bug you about this. I just wanted to make sure.

Ha ha ha, Spainards... The names are great! I especially like that someone as tough as Ikazuchi would have such a prim and proper name. Charlotte. It seems delicate, almost. Whereas Esperanza is such an overblown and gaudy word, it makes me think of someone in a big hat who gets many sexual encounters.
