Thanks. You don't need to go to art school to make it in art. By all means, go if you can but its all about the skills you have and your portfolio. My course didn't prepare me that well for the industry. I suppose it depends on where you study though.

I'm currently studying a different course at the moment, but I'm seriously thinking of doing an art course after graduating. I've found I'm not very academic, and I'm always just doodling on all my notes lol. Where would you say the best place to study art is?

The top ones are probably hard to get into though. Portsmouth (where I went) is way down on the list. Not that I'd recommend it, lol.

I applied as an undergraduate so it may be different for you but you will need a certain amount of ucas points (the amount depends on the uni) and a portfolio. I think the portfolio is more important. Apparently, our course was over applied for so students were chosen on the strength of their portfolio. Mine was a massive A1 ringbound one, full of college work (I did a BTEC in Fine art). Looking back, a lot of the work in there was awful but the tutor liked a print piece I did (I didn't like it myself) and a couple of other things. My advice would be to show them a variety of work as you never know what they will like!
