Probably there's some impressionist influence. That's one of my favorite styles, though I always feel like I put in way too much exact detail to really achieve the full feel of impressionism. :) (Smile)

It definitely can! I only started properly drawing portraits last year, patience really pays off in the end! One thing I did (might start doing it again actually) was sketch smaller portraits so I could get features right :) (Smile) really helped! I'm going to post some progresses of my older portraits too so you'll be able to see how they start and how weird they look
