# About me
My name is Michael. I am a digital artist, with emphasis on photomanipulation. Most of the pictures I use are my own, taken with my Canon. I use a variety of free and purchased software to edit my photos. Mostly I use Adobe Photoshop and Pixlr Online. I wish to sell my art, and make a modest living on it, combined with my other projects' incomes. 20 years old. Unfortunately there still is the general problem of people outside art having problems
valuing digital work, because it is a kinda abstract thing and most people can't say how much
is selfmade and how much is done by digital tools. So they are biased from the
moment you show work to them. And even inside the art community there are
such problems and prejudices. I think doing tutorials, show wips and talk about -
educate people about it - helps a bit to open their minds for things like that.

Sweet. XD and, I totally understand that! To most people, my medium is a complete joke. lol Simply because it doesn't require the "grunt work" of sitting in one places and working on an arm or a leg for 3 hours, before moving on to spend another 2 hours trying to get the hair right, etc. True, my work may be "easier" so to speak, but it requires vision, and is very easy to over-do. Also, I take most of my pictures myself. So that's even more that I'VE put into it. It IS art. And it IS my own. lol Don't worry, we'll show them someday. -.-

Well I think it is a hard as any other art form just on another level.
Even for photomanipulations you need all that knowledge you need
as an traditional / digital artist, too. Like composition, colors, values, etc.
And if you are shooting your raw photos yourself, it requires even more of these skills.
And even with a photomanipulation you can sit hours to make everything to fit
toghether perfectly. So from that point of view I don't really see the legit part
of the argument of photomanipulation being not as hard as everything else.
The best thing to help them understand is usually to let them try themselves. For me
as a digital artist I rather have the problem people say it requires just talent and can't be
learned. So I try to convince these people taking a pen and draw something and
then show them some nice little tricks and basics along the way, that have a huge impact
on the outcome. Sometimes this inspires people to start drawing themselves.
For me as an artist it is great to see this process or at least the change of mind from this
experience.

All of this is true. lol And, I'm not a teacher, myself. XD haha I love to witness other artists developing and honing their skills, but I'm not sure that I could be directly involved in the process without implementing way too much of my own style into what they would learn. :-P

It's really just basic stuff, not styling things. It's probably
easier in drawing than in manipulation, but just showing what
what tools and give some basics understanding/ rules should
do, don't you think? Aside from that I am not a great teacher myself, but
such little "educational" things are fien for me,too, ... I guess. Hehe. ^^'
