I am soooo bad at Deviantart lately! You should check out my tumblr portfolio (we-become-new.tumblr.com), I should be posting some new 4x5 color work within the next week!

it is very interesting, but I for one am completely unwilling to pay $21 for 8 images!
I'm sure all the rich hipsters will be stockpiling.

thanks for the link, but oof! I'm not sure I could saw apart my holga! my beau works perfectly fine without any bits being hacked off. converting it to take 35mm could be really interesting, though. hmmm, might have to try that
I've done so much holga work over the last 7 months and I still can't believe I haven't digitalized ANY of it.

um, not really. I like Kodak and I've been using it for almost 3 years now so I know what kind of results I'll get with it. at this point I don't want to start using a new film without knowing what I'll get (at least not while I'm in school). I use fuji + polaroid for instant film stuff.

i asked mainly because i have never been satisfied with kodak for b/w.
you shouldn't go to a school that doesn't promote chance curiosity diversity verity or whatever on calls it.
fuji accrose or neopan will give you a great pop to your whites/highlights.
what school do you go to?
what iso/asa do you use mainly?

oh, no, I didn't mean that they don't give us the choice of using whatever film we want. Kodak is what I'm used to, but I also enjoy it a lot. I have tri-x sitting around and if I have an assignment due in 2 or 3 weeks then I'm going to use the film I have around, not film that I have to order online and won't get for how many weeks. it's also not very helpful (please don't take offense to this) when people recommend film but don't give examples or specific reason why I should try that film.
I use iso 400 mainly because I never know quite what/where I'll be shooting. if I know I'll be shooting in very low light I'll get iso 800 and if I know I'll be shooting outside with very bright sun I'll see if I have iso 200. but 400 works well for me when I don't know what I'll be doing (I'm not much for planning...)
right now I'm part time at a community college but I'm entering Goucher College as a freshman for fall '09. this May-August I'll be in Italy studying photography and sculpture.

sweet future you have.
i did not realize you order your film.
is there not a local camera shop?
well b/w fuji has a bit more contrast and pop then kodak.
i use fuji in my more resent work, if you want an example (but through scanners and what not i would prefer to show you in person)

thanks
there aren't any camera shops very close to me. there was a Ritz about 2 minutes down the road but they closed, and the 1 that is farther away is going to be closing soon (which means they have absolutely nothing in stock). I think there are a couple camera shops in a city nearby, but it's not really worth the gas money (and 40 minutes in the car) just to buy film. it's much easier and cheaper to buy it in bulk online.
