# About me

#introductions ; Mark Alexander is an American visual artist who bridges the gap between Impressionism and Romanticism in many different mediums. He enjoys working with oils and watercolors. His portraits and figurative paintings, unlike the Romantic school of painters does not implement smooth lines and soft forms, but rather an expressive loose style.

Mark, a native of New Jersey, has been drawn to portraiture since his late teens. His desire to paint like his contemporary mentor Mark Carder, and Master Artists from the past such as, Velazquez, Rembrandt, Gustave Courbet, Paul Cezanne, and John Singer Sargent, brought him to studying their works and Impressionist styles in depth, while unequally adding his own expressive signatures to his works.

Aside from portraiture, Mr. Alexander enjoys painting Romantic scenes of Urbanscapes or Cityscapes, as well as Seascapes and Landscapes. Many of the themes that occupy Mark’s imagination stem from his parents native Egypt. Everyone of his fine arts painting’s were from a place he has been, a moment that he has felt, a time he hoped to share, a moment of emotional inspiration.
