I was wondering what the best material would be that I could use to make the bag.
any help with the straps and what i might be able to sew up first.

I used some cheap flannel that was on sale, lol..
The straps are the easiest part! I just sewed two thin strips of material together, one dark and one light, then sewed those together to make one strap.
I would first try and figure out how to make the body of your bag first, then the straps after, so you can gauge the length of your straps

Well I came up with my own pattern.
i was being real lazy but when i finally did it, it was real simple.
now the pattern i came up with isn't exactly correct size or length so i still need to adjust that according to the length of my back.
