Factory of Darkness is a black and white horror survival game inspired by the Resident Evil series, the story is about a humanoid crow navigating a large factory full of monsters in order to find it's owner so he can inform him that that someone important to him has passed away.
Now, you may be asking "What the pop are you even telling me this?"
Because Charlie and the chocolate factory inspired me. And it also because there is a secret campaign that is basically a dark adaptation of the story.

Truly? Well, I'm not much a bird lover but I might take a look. From your post, I deduce that you're the creator of the game. Where can I find it?Β

It's not in development, their just ideas, for now. I did however post a video on YouTube that talks about FoD, I don't mention Dark Chocolate.

The personalities and traits of the characters are still the same.
Augustus is still gluttonous, really gluttonous. Because of that, he is pretty darn fat, so much so that he practically has problems flying. The reason why is because his mother believes that having a famished child is a sin.
Violet is still competitive, prideful and arrogant. Will do anything in order to win, and participates in every single sport event. Believes that if she loses, her parents will disown her, which is not true. But it doesn't stop them from encouraging her competitive nature. Hates blueberries.
Veruca has to be problably the most greedy bird in the whole world. Her first words were "I want it now", and it's all because her parents gave her everything. She is more spoiled than a rotten apple.
Mike has and will always be a couch potato. Always watching television, always. And doesn't do anything else.
Miranda is a schoolgirl with a hatred against everything fun. One day she will take over her father's prison- I mean school. The group's sociopath.
Marvin is the pretty boy with a big ego.
Charlie is a good, poor kid, but deep in his heart, he envious of the the other kids.
Now what I am having problems with is what kind of birds are they going to be.

Oh I see you're doing the two "missing children". That's nice.
As for the birds... For Veruca, I would suggest a magpie. The thieving bird by excellency. As for Augustus... I would see or a vulture or a pelican. And if you're doing Marvin as this prideful boy, then you have to go with a peacock for himΒ

As William "Willy" Wonka, I was thinking he could either be a colorful phoenix or the same species as Walther, the owner of the factory in FoD. The twist is that he is not a bird.

mask131 In reply to TheRavenlover115 [2018-12-09 09:15:15 +0000 UTC]
I see... I would have thought of a dodo, or a blue bird (just because of the references to the "blue bird of happiness" in fairy tales and theater)
π: 0 β©: 1
TheRavenlover115 In reply to mask131 [2018-12-09 15:41:17 +0000 UTC]
I think a dodo is a odd choice, and I never heard of the blue bird of happiness. But maybe having him as a blue phoenix wouldn't hurt.
π: 0 β©: 1
mask131 In reply to TheRavenlover115 [2018-12-09 19:18:54 +0000 UTC]
I was thinking dodo because the dodo in itself is an odd bird, and is often used in weird works like Alice in Wonderland - reinforcing the idea of Wonka as this weird and unique character. Plus, since the dodos are no more and Wonka is searching for a heir...Β
As for the blue bird of happiness, it's a common trope. There are often stories with children or heroes searching for a magical and rare blue bird, that is supposed to embody happiness. There's a fairy tale about it ; a different theater play, and there's an anime adaptation of this play. So, yes, a lot of things
π: 0 β©: 1
TheRavenlover115 In reply to mask131 [2018-12-09 21:25:36 +0000 UTC]
Oh that explains the dodo, still not going to use it.
I think the blue would fit with Wonka, because like I said before, he has despair.

I have two versions of the story, dark and white chocolate. White chocolate is just a interpretation, while Dark chocolate is an expansion that adds a lot of new things, including a new campaign.

mask131 In reply to TheRavenlover115 [2018-12-10 19:45:23 +0000 UTC]
Hey, me too I have "dark chocolate" and "white chocolate" stories! Well, they are more straightforward retellings of the story.Β
But I thought... Well, when you presented your idea to me you said that the whole Charlie and the Chocolate Factory retelling was a side-quest on your game, game which had a completely different main story?Β
π: 0 β©: 1
TheRavenlover115 In reply to mask131 [2018-12-10 20:13:36 +0000 UTC]
I am curious about your versions of the story.
I don't understand the question, but I'll say that it takes place after the events of the main story.
π: 0 β©: 1
mask131 In reply to TheRavenlover115 [2018-12-10 20:21:50 +0000 UTC]
Actually I posted them here some years ago, but then after some incidents I decided to take them off. I'm putting them back now. If you want to see traces left of my work, there are some friends from the CatCF fandom that did drawings for me. PPF2009 on DeviantArt and atomsmsher on Tumblr (I think it's also the name of her DeviantArt account but I'm not sure)
As for my question, it would be more understable if I used your original post :
"Factory of Darkness is a black and white horror survival game inspired by the Resident Evil series, the story is about a humanoid crow navigating a large factory full of monsters in order to find it's owner so he can inform him that that someone important to him has passed away.
Now, you may be asking "What the pop are you even telling me this?"
Because Charlie and the chocolate factory inspired me. And it also because there is a secret campaign that is basically a dark adaptation of the story."
You said here the whole story adaptation was a secret campaign. Now, you speak of it like if it was the main story of the game... Have I missed something here?Β

Oh, I actually watch PPF2009, and I think I saw some art based of your work. I even commented on Marvin's demise, and I have to say, it's pretty comedic. But I have to say, it's pretty choice of clothes.
π: 0 β©: 1
mask131 In reply to TheRavenlover115 [2018-12-10 22:43:30 +0000 UTC]
Indeed you have (I just checked). Yes, PPF2009 did a lot of drawings for me. Unfortunately, some of them are now "outdated" because I decided to rewrite some characters pretty heavily.Β
And I see you got a quick answer from PPF2009... When he's been ignoring my mails... Maybe it's just that his adress got deleted. I'll try his DA account.Β
As for his demise, thanks for liking it. I just want to point out that there's a bit more to that than just the drawing - I had written his entire demise based on some real elements from the books. Anyway, I plan to post it again so you will be able to read it
As for the clothing I don't have much merit. I mean... I only came up with the black crop top-short outfit, and the skunk fur coat one. The crop top-short because I wanted to avoid the issue of clothes ripping with his transformation, 'cause it's just so bothersome. And the fur coat because I saw a skunk fur coat one day and desperately wanted to put one in my works somewhere. After I added all symbolism with the cow, the skunk etc... But originally it's not muchΒ
π: 0 β©: 1
TheRavenlover115 In reply to mask131 [2018-12-10 23:12:50 +0000 UTC]
I had to search what a skunk coat looks like. I have to admit, it looks ugly, just like him.
I can see the symbolism, a cow and a skunk have the same color scheme: black and white. He basically turned into a cow. Horns included!
I wonder what's different about him now?
π: 0 β©: 1
mask131 In reply to TheRavenlover115 [2018-12-10 23:56:50 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, the whole idea was to turn him into a cow. Hence the horns, the white and black schemes. I even planned to give him a nose-ring just to reinforce the paralell
As for what changed about him, nothing much. I'm quite proud of how he turned out - the only detail changing is the nose-ring. It's mostly the other characters that changed
π: 0 β©: 1
TheRavenlover115 In reply to mask131 [2018-12-11 00:11:03 +0000 UTC]
Where did he get a nose ring?
What's different about them?
An alternative demise for my version of Marvin is that he eats a special chocolate bar that supposedly makes someone's feathers look much prettier, but instead it makes all his feathers to fall off.
π: 0 β©: 1
mask131 In reply to TheRavenlover115 [2018-12-11 00:22:55 +0000 UTC]
... I don't know exactly where. He just has it now.
Oh, a lot of things. Too much to explain here.
That's also interesting. Simpler than the other one, but a bit more faithful to the original book.Β

Either one will be hilarious.

mask131 In reply to TheRavenlover115 [2018-12-11 01:11:50 +0000 UTC]
Oh no, I meant, I thought of adding the ring nose before his transformation. Like, he wore it before even winning the Ticket
π: 0 β©: 1
TheRavenlover115 In reply to mask131 [2018-12-11 01:19:38 +0000 UTC]
Oh, that explains.
I think once he transform, it would be a good opportunity for to say "He's fatter than Augustus Gloop!".
π: 0 β©: 1
mask131 In reply to TheRavenlover115 [2018-12-11 08:33:51 +0000 UTC]
I actually did that, it was in the original text. Well, the part was :
"He's as big as Augustus Gloop!"
"No! He's even bigger!"
π: 0 β©: 1
TheRavenlover115 In reply to mask131 [2018-12-11 14:46:23 +0000 UTC]
If Augustus was there, he would problably have the last laugh, because he is not longer the fattest one of the tour now.
π: 0 β©: 1
mask131 In reply to TheRavenlover115 [2018-12-11 19:10:18 +0000 UTC]
I never though of what Augustus reaction would be seeing that... Could be an interesting idea
π: 0 β©: 1
TheRavenlover115 In reply to mask131 [2018-12-11 19:23:36 +0000 UTC]
Augustus: Whose the pig now? Or should I say, cow?
I like the idea of Marvin bullying Augustus for being overweight, making his demise seem to be the act of karma.
π: 0 β©: 1
mask131 In reply to TheRavenlover115 [2018-12-11 20:12:49 +0000 UTC]
Actually he does in the story. That's a bit of Marvin's main thing, bullying overweight peopleΒ
π: 0 β©: 1
TheRavenlover115 In reply to mask131 [2018-12-11 20:23:13 +0000 UTC]
That makes his demise even more amusing. That's what happens when you mock fat people: you become fat yourself! For him though, he became a cow, literally!
π: 0 β©: 1
mask131 In reply to TheRavenlover115 [2018-12-11 20:32:39 +0000 UTC]
Yep. Originally the whole demise came from this idea. Afterward I added other more fantastical elements and shaped it in a way that would fit in the Dahl story and also with the whole health discussion behind the character
π: 0 β©: 1
TheRavenlover115 In reply to mask131 [2018-12-11 21:07:23 +0000 UTC]
Hmmm, what's the health discussion? The fact that he doesn't eat because he chooses not to?
π: 0 β©: 1
mask131 In reply to TheRavenlover115 [2018-12-11 21:30:29 +0000 UTC]
Well, I could ask you to wait again for the text to be republished but since we already talked so much about him, another "spoiler" might not hurt.
Actually, one of the basis behind this Marvin is that he is obsessed with what he considers "healthy". That's why he keeps doing diets and calling out fat people. He thinks being healthy is the most important thing in life, but the thing is that he and his parents are mixing "healthiness" and "beauty". As a result, for Marvin being "healthy" is being "beautiful". As in: if you're not thin, you can't possibly be healthy.Β
You see what I mean?Β

TheRavenlover115 In reply to mask131 [2018-12-11 21:59:32 +0000 UTC]
