I just barely stumbled upon your gallery tonight. I'm not only super impressed but very much in awe that you capture characters like you do. I haven't seen art this beautiful to gaze at since Alex Ross. Fantastic art. Most definitely going to follow you. I look forward to all the wonderful updates. Thanks for blowing my mind.

In response to The Star Wars the comic, do you think you would be interested in doing a comic based on the original script draft for The Phantom Menace (where Anakin is 12 years old and all that?) or do you think it would seem a little too in line with the real original trilogy rather than the early draft adaptation? By the way, did you get my post of how I though Deak Starkiller looked adorable?

yes, I took it down since working on THE STAR WARS. Just too much of a distraction. I hope to start having items for sale in there within the next month or so.
Thanks for your interest in my work!

fantastic quality to your work, the light and shadows and the basic superlative mastery of line and composition. your comic pages are like a series of finished paintings in their own genre! I am a fairly new fan of comic art and love your work.

I'd like to ask you how you make your own art in acrylic. You use the paint with water like watercolor or ink you use pure?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
mikemayhew In reply to FabioCaravieri [2012-07-24 05:07:28 +0000 UTC]
I water down the acrylic and use it like watercolor, glazing thin layers of paint on top of each other. Then I use some airbrush to soften brush-strokes.

Wow, I just saw your work for the first time last week and I absolutely love it. It has a sort of realism to it that you don't often see in comic books.
Keep up the good work, I can't wait to see more of it!

Hey Mike.How's it going?
If you allow me to ask...While doing detail work, do you use india ink at all for dark parts, such as the nostrils or the corners of the mouth? And um, what brushes do you use for details, for thin lines i mean, for the hair or something like that?
Thank you in advance, sorry for bothering.
Peace.

Lately for B&W work, I use a couple different Kuretake brush pens for line work, and a Winsor and Newton Series 7 brush for my ink wash of Sumi india ink.

Thank you for answering man
If you don't mind, Sumi...Is that the same one some tattoo artists use perhaps?
