# About me
I was introduced to portrait drawing by my art teacher in high school and immediately became hooked. Every chance I had, I would pick up my pencil and start drawing. I would show my pictures to friends and family and they would always tell me how good I was at it. One day, I sat down and was looking at some drawings I had done over the years. I noticed two things: they really weren't that good, and I hadn't improved at all despite the time I spent practicing. I had no idea where to start in order to get better, and I had no one to show me. I became more and more discouraged and eventually just gave up out of frustration. That was close to 5 years ago now. However, I recently found some drawing videos that were made by an amazing artist. I have been watching some of them, and am finally starting to see what I've been doing wrong. Now that I have somewhere to start, I have motivation to try again.The reason I don't have anything posted is because at this point I don't feel like my drawings are good enough to show. Once I have been able to practice and gain some confidence I will start to post some to my gallery.
I must say, though, that it is kind of intimidating seeing some of the art that people are showing on DA. Every day I see something that leaves me utterly speechless. I know I could never be as good as many of the artists here, but all I want is to be able to see myself get better.

Mike, thank you so much for adding "Queen Vashti" to your collection of faves. I read your bio and I really know what you are feeling. There are amazing artist on here and I said the same things to myself. So, I did the same things. Keep drawing and looking at some of the amazing tutorials on here. I started with the small things, say like an eye. And tried following the steps in the tutorial as closely as I could, paying attention at every detail that I could see. I realized after time, I really needed to train my eyes to see everything that needed to be drawn. It was the little successes that encourage me to keep working and moving forward. I know that I will never be able to draw like some of the artists I see on here but that's ok. Find your style that satisfies you and enjoy your expression in it!

No problem. I will probably start uploading something soon. My older stuff is pretty crappy, but I have a better idea of what I'm doing now and am starting to gain a little confidence.
