Welcome to deviantART, and thank you for your comment. I have this suspicion you were kidding when you said you didn't understand 1984, but if it's true, read Fight Club (by Chuck Palahniuk) and then try 1984 again. I'll try to think of anything else to read in between as well.
You could watch a video of Fight Club instead, but I think reading it would be better preparation for 1984.
