If you want to move things around or get rid of certain widgets, just hover over your name and click "settings". In doing this, you can edit your profile.

mmxpress In reply to GlupayaSova [2012-10-23 00:06:00 +0000 UTC]

A little stressed. But I expect that to recede, as volleyball is over, (thank goodness!)

I'm so happy I get to put all my pictures on here! And I get to go to Gettysburg later in the week. So that will be a great day for pictures.

What have you been up to?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GlupayaSova In reply to mmxpress [2012-10-24 02:42:25 +0000 UTC]

Ah, yes, hopefully that does the trick.

Oh, dude, I haven't faved any of them yet, but you have some BEAUTIFUL pictures. They make me wish I lived where you do. XP Oooh, Gettysburg, nice! Very historic.

Nothing interesting here, really. Busy as heck, getting a bit stressed with school... just started an anthropology class that just might send me over the edge, but I am far too in love with it to drop it. I can babble on about all of the interesting things in that class forever. I mean, I love it so much I feel obligated to tell everyone I know about it. It's rather sad, really.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mmxpress In reply to GlupayaSova [2012-10-24 19:27:36 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I'm quite excited!

Sorry 'bout school. That seems to never go away... Ooh! Anthropology! Wow, that sounds super neat! Has it been one of those classes you've always wanted to take? Oh no! I'd listen... for a bit at least. (So these emoticons... every time I click one I see a link. Is that supposed to happen? And for a second, I though your emoticon was trying to lick its nose.) That's how your classes should be though-- I think. At least you're learning something new.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GlupayaSova In reply to mmxpress [2012-10-25 04:17:37 +0000 UTC]

Oh, it's fine. It's something you get used to, I guess. Yeah, it has been in the same grouping as sociology, psychology... and every other -logy ever, haha. Well, it's just interesting to see how different cultures look at the world in an entirely different way... I mean, I know we all know we're different from each other, but it's never quite something you think about. We were going over culture and mental illness today... It's interesting. Other cultures have mental illnesses that seem ludicrous to us, so in a way, mental affliction is the result of the person's society. And Western medicine has a lot of influence on mental illness... like anorexia as starvation due to fat-phobia. China didn't have it as a fat-phobia, they simply saw anorexia as stomach bloating. But after anorexia was redefined in the U.S., or discovered, so to speak, it "spread" to China, and suddenly women were becoming anorexic because they were afraid of getting fat-- a problem completely unheard of in China before!

Interesting stuff. Makes you think.

You mean when you hover over them a little bar shows up that says what they are? If so then yes, that is normal. Haha, it does look like that.

Oh, definitely. It's like this weird required elective. I like it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mmxpress In reply to GlupayaSova [2012-10-26 00:28:50 +0000 UTC]

Whoa! That's totally crazy. Yeah, I took an international Studies course last year (the class was neat, but I practically failed every test: i.e. I got a D on the midterm.) The theme of the course was ethnocentrism. Blah! I still never hear the end of it and cannot watch The Lion King in peace. But anyways, that's really strange. Is there a rate to the spreading of other mental illnesses? Are we next?!

You bet. I just try not to think about too many big things at once. It freaks me out!

No, the bar is highlighted when I click on it, but the emoticon itself isn't added when I double click or try to drag it in.

It's required? That's interesting. Do you know what your major is?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GlupayaSova In reply to mmxpress [2012-10-26 18:03:45 +0000 UTC]

Really? Sound like a cool class. Well, that's okay! At least you liked it and learned from it. As long as you take some knowledge from a class, I think it's worth it. Oh my-- ethnocentrism. Yes, that's what annoys me... I mean I understand explaining the concept at the beginning of the course so that everybody understands it, but then they keep repeating it and repeating it, and at some point it's not even about learning about other cultures, but it's learning about how Western culture is trying to impose itself upon everyone else. Which, again, I understand is a legitimate concern, but don't make the whole class about it. Lion King? Do I want to know...? Are you kidding? We ARE mental illness. Fear our wrath.

Heh, I know, so much crazy stuff out there...

Wait, you mean the ones off to the right side? Those just add a little emoticon in the top right corner of your reply.

Well, it's required in a way... I just had to take a social science, and the other classes were either full or uninteresting. But I really did want to take this one so I'm happy. My declared major so far is psychology, which is subject to change, but I do find it fascinating, so I'm in no rush to change it.

Pretty busy... but when I think of it, its a whole lot of nothing. :/ College stuff is freaking me out. I have some pretty awesome scholarship opportunities, but my english teacher is on maternity leave. >:/ Arrrgh!

Ps. What's your favorite color?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GlupayaSova In reply to mmxpress [2012-12-02 18:10:24 +0000 UTC]

I see. Well, it's good about the scholarship opportunities! And don't worry, this whole college thing will become a minute thing in the back of your mind very soon. You're starting very early with it though, aren't you? Very smart if you are; I waited a bit too long to find out stuff. I mean, I worked everything out, but I wish I had done more research personally. :/

My "official" favorite color is purple, but I'm getting a little sick of it... I never ending love for black, and I have a strange affinity for browns and greys.

So make what you will of that. I am so sorry I cannot give a straight answer.

mmxpress In reply to GlupayaSova [2012-12-02 20:45:38 +0000 UTC]

Well in all reality... I just like money! Hahaha, no I have a cousin who's going to college next year and he showed me a pretty cool site so I want to take advantage the creative scholarships.

Same! I like purple and red.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GlupayaSova In reply to mmxpress [2012-12-03 08:55:33 +0000 UTC]

Great! Take advantage of all of the scholarships! EVERY SINGLE ONE!

Ooooh, I like red too! But I'm really getting into blue right now. Lots of pretty blues. Used to be green.

I guess that the only constant that I have is that I don't like yellow or orange (but I do like orange a lot in the fall).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mmxpress In reply to GlupayaSova [2012-12-06 23:51:02 +0000 UTC]

I only have so much time...

Hmm, I wonder what that means. Why do people change their favorite colors? Do they go through a mood shift?

Yes, orange is very pretty, but the deep red is my favorite because it is so uncommon. However, it hasn't snowed yet here, so the only color is brown. I' waiting for the snow.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GlupayaSova In reply to mmxpress [2012-12-08 18:39:26 +0000 UTC]

Use it well, my friend.

I don't know... color favoritism is a very interesting thing. It tells a lot about a personality... or it should. For me, I just think that I'm starting to get tired of purple because it's overused. Then I'll see it used in some instances where I think to myself, "There's no way any other color can be my favorite," but then I'll see it used in clothing or something and it seems a little ugly. But life events definitely have an effect on the colors a person likes. There's actually a very interesting psychological color test where you choose colors twice (given the directions), and based on how you do it, you will get a different result on personality. My mother and I both took the test and got scary accurate results, and her results could not be completely applicable to my life, and vice versa, while both of us got descriptions that fit us perfectly.
Here it is, in case you are curious: [link]

Oh, it's all positively dazzling! Well, if everything's brown, then you can pretend for now that you are in a sepia film.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mmxpress In reply to GlupayaSova [2012-12-10 22:47:18 +0000 UTC]

I tried that test and the results were really interesting, although I don't really agree on what it said about me... Hmmm, it said I was needy and insecure.
Oh well.

Nothing like those old timey classics!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GlupayaSova In reply to mmxpress [2012-12-12 03:47:21 +0000 UTC]

Oh my gosh that's sad, I'm so sorry. These psychological tests never seem to have positive outcomes, do they?

Yes. And as a kid I thought that the whole world used to be black and white... I remember saying, "Back when everything was black and white..."

Oh childhood.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mmxpress In reply to GlupayaSova [2012-12-19 21:24:46 +0000 UTC]

I hear that.

Childhood wasn't black and white though. At least not for me. Being four was just as hard as being 16, granted the struggles are different, but they're still there.

But I certainly do like to look back at pictures and see how happy I was, er, am?

I still don't know about that last part.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GlupayaSova In reply to mmxpress [2012-12-21 00:03:53 +0000 UTC]

Oh no, I mean I literally thought that the world didn't have any colors in it for some time when I was a kid. I thought that the old movies were black and white because that was all the color there was. But I agree... it seems like life was easier when you were a kid, but proportionally, the way you feel about problems-- it stays the same.

I'm sorry, I understand what you mean. You're going through a tough age in a world that scorns morality... and that's a tough thing to live with. But I think that if you stay with it, you will start seeing the results of staying true to yourself, and I'm sure that you'll find plenty of other people to identify with and who will be grateful that people like you exist (hello)! I'm sure that there's more to it than that, but I'm sure that this is a part of what you're feeling...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mmxpress In reply to GlupayaSova [2013-01-07 23:06:17 +0000 UTC]

Its nice to find someone else that gets it!

Haha! Yeah thanks... Sometimes I just get so down, and I don't know why. Then I get fed up with being sad, and decide to be happy. I think thats a key to lifeβ€” being able to shift. Part of me wants another shot, to master it (and I'm sure I'll get one) and my other half thinks I'm crazy. (That's probably true too. )

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GlupayaSova In reply to mmxpress [2013-01-08 21:28:33 +0000 UTC]

It always is.

I don't think you're crazy at all. I say it would be crazy not to get down with all of the things that go on in the world. You think a lot and deeply about life and humanity, and you are able to see everything that's wrong with the world around you, and you don't want to be a part of that, but you feel like you're forced into being a part of that vicious worldly cycle, and that's a damn nuisance to you, as you just want to have a more or less "idealistic" life, but you feel that you can't. And it's definitely a positive point that you are able to find the strength inside of yourself to be happy. Believe it or not, some people completely lack this ability, whether it be because the like to indulge in their misery too much (and indulgence is never good), or because their minds simply cannot shift to happier states. So it is indeed a gift that you are able to do this.
