Yeah, and the ending is so perfect. I just sat there and soaked in how awesome it was. Ha ha. It's nice to see story-tellers that can satisfy like that.

definitely. that's why i liked "east of eden" more than "grapes of wrath" (but it comes in at a close second!) cuz you get this great release at the end. it's that nice, empty "aaaah" feeling that makes me quibble over a good story haha

yeah, I would actually describe it as full rather than empty. it's just that feeling where everything is put together and full of meaning. I love it. ha ha.

Actually, I felt the same way in Grapes of Wrath. When Rose of Sharon give the life that was meant for her baby to that dying old man, I thought it was a beautiful ending, and really completed the message he set out to address.

haha it's cool to see how other people experience books. everytime i finish something i like, i feel like i came back from a long, good run.

haha i guess either way you cut it, steinbeck is still pretty rockin.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's a good feeling. Sometimes I'm hesitant to read a book because I worry I'll spend all that time and wont get that feeling. Ha ha.

But yeah, he's just one of those writers who is doing what he is doing for a reason, and not just to make money or for the sake of writing. You should read his Nobel Prize acceptance speech. I found it pretty inspiring. Ha ha.
