From Coleraine eh? Most Northern Irish deviants are from the Belfast area, so good to see someone from my nearest big town. I live between Kilrea and Garvagh in a wee place known as Boveedy.

Boveedy? Wow sounds really backwater and I thought Ballyrashane was bad LOL
I'm trying to get into photography at the minute but I don't have a camera, any you would recommend?

Ballyrashane enjoys the benefits of living in the countryside but being close to the town.
I'm 3 miles from the nearest shop, so yeah a bit of a backwater, good place for photography though
As for cameras. I used a small compact point-and-shoot camera for many years.
I would buy one of these around the £120-150 mark. Youjr EMA Christmas bonus should cover this
You shouldn't head into DSLR territory unless you are totally certain that photography is the thing for you.
The limitations of a small camera actually make you progress faster as a photographer I feel, as you have to try harder to get good shots. With an SLR and nice lens there is a temptation to use it's technologies as a crutch to your photography. With a compact camera you can't rely on super sharp images and creamy blurred backgrounds to give your pictures some sort of vapid credibility.
The Canon Ixus range is a good place to start or perhaps Fujifilm Finepix cameras. The Jessops website usually offers competitive prices and is a reliable service.
Don't forget to try out some price comparison sites such as Kelkoo or Price Terrier to see if you can get a super deal.
If you want to know anything else, don't hesitate to ask
