Another day, another trainer who passed the test. Some might find it just awful to be beat, taken down a notch by a newcomer when they themselves were so highly regarded. Not Ilima, though. He saw each person who passed out of the cave with a smile and a bounce in his step because it meant someone with a like-mind one step closer to achieving their dreams. And he saw this one off too as she ran away, clutching her pokeball to her chest.

And like that, Ilima left the mouth of the verdant cave to go to the pokecentre across the street for a drink and a chance to recharge; the tables and seats, what few there were, were occupied much to his misfortune. But, unphased, he took his beverage the ''bartender'' offered and decided to approach a young man alone, a single chair across from him left unoccupied. Ilima sat there, crossing his legs over and placing his mug on te table. "Mind if I sit for a while?"

▶ After arriving from Kanto three days ago, Hizoko wasn't exactly used to anything so far. The people were extremely nice and helpful, the humidity was strong, the time felt so far off as it was night now while in most regions it was morning, and he was still learning how to be a trainer. It took awhile to get to this route due to the Pokemon trainers who blocked the way but here he was. Hau wasn't here since he was out getting malasadas but the young male felt so out of place. Placing a hand over his hat, Hizoko took notice of a nearby Poke Center and took shelter there, sitting down at one of the tables.

▶ He didn't have much on him either, no. Just a few potions, one repel, and his three Pokemon (Rowlet, Pikipek, and Pichu). It didn't take long for him to order some Tapu Cocoa to force himself to stay awake, watching the area around him. The landscape itself was beautiful but the sea added onto it which made Hizoko forget that others flocked here. Once he hears a chair move close to him, he snaps out of his thoughts and looked at the other male with his blue orbs. Giving a small but quick nod, the trainer responded nervously as he was shy of meeting new faces.

 

"A-Ah... I-I don't mind at all... I-I'm guessing there was no open seats though... h-hah..."

He noticed how uncomfortable his presence made the boy, and he did care but he had a long day of training and so did his pokemon, and he needed to rest to be able to properly care for them. His feet were killing him, and who liked a grumpy Ilima? Nobody, that's who. "You're pretty shy. Trainers are usually more in your face, but it's a nice surprise." He tried to start conversation, to make this stranger feel welcome and to show him that it was okay to not be terribly shy, a smile on his full lips that reached his eyes and belied no cruel intent.

"I'm Captain Ilima. I orchestrate the verdant trial here on Melemele island," He leaned back in his chair, taking his mug in hand and taking a small, polite sip. "Are you a tourist? You don't have to be afraid of answering that, though! Here in Alola we treat everyone like they've been here their whole life."

▶ The black-haired male listened closely to the other's words until he heard the word 'captain' which almost made him choke on his drink. The captain for the Verdant trial? Isn't that...? Hizoko looks over at where those weird markers are across the way, scanning them over to see that they match his amulet (which is on his backpack) and sweatdropped slightly. That might be where this captain's trial is located. Looking back at Ilima, he attempted to calm down a bit to answer truthfully. May as well, at least, since the other doesn't seem like a bad person.

"Ah... it's kinda how I am.. um... and about the tourist thing, I mean, I am originally from Kanto but my mom and I moved here three days ago so... we'll be living here permanently. O-Oh right. I should introduce myself. Haha... um, I'm Hizoko Unio. It's nice to meet you, Mr. Ilima. And... captain, huh? I guess that means I'll be doing that trial soon."

 

▶ Without warning, his Rowlet (Rizali) appears out of its Poké Ball and moves to sit on top of Hizoko's head for two reasons: She was bored and to see this captain that it would face later on. Letting out a small coo, the Pokémon tilted its head slightly and stared intently into the captain's eyes. Not to be creepy, of course, but it's impossible to tell because Rowlets always look odd staring with their eyes. Hizoko let out a small huff at his partner and pat her head; she, at least, calmed him down a bit.

"Sorry about Rizali. She's way too curious sometimes and likes to pop out of her Poké Ball."

Talking to trial-goers was second nature to Ilima by now. He liked to chat, to get to know them better and by way of proxy, their pokemon. A trainer's personality often correlated to what pokemon they chose or chose them. He was listening to him blather on and on, a lazy smile on his face in direct contrast to Hizoko's nervousness, conversation as easy as one two three.

Leaning forward some in his seat Ilima rested his chin on the back of his hand, elbow propped up on the table, a slight curve in his posture now as he got all comfortable in front of his new acquaintance. "Kanto, huh? I've never been to Kanto before, but I've studied abroad in Lumiose City for a spell. I'm going to assume that they're something alike for the sake of being conversational.~" The rowlet did have him taken aback so that he straightened up some, brows raised for a moment, taking in that the pokemon wasn't showing signs of aggression; thank goodness. He returned to how he had been seconds prior, no longer on guard now that the threat was ascertained to be impotent.

"Oh, no, no. Don't apologise for her, she's fine." What a darling little thing. He wasn't much into grass types as an overall rule of thumb but he could appreciate other types of pokemon that deviated from his expertise for what they were. "I've just never seen a pokemon pop out of its ball like that before."
