You're welcome. I think that your drawings are very similar to Oda's. I only wish that the language flowed more smoothly, becasue I thin even though the basic meaning of what is being said gets across, I feel like better grammar could really help. Your stories are pretty cute and very funny. Keep up the good work!

XD I'm first chair!!

musician-not-drawer In reply to Jun-Okami [2011-02-13 03:21:30 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I am. It's fine if you're random, I am all the time! I was first chair in ninth grade, but now I am eighth chair in the advanced band and I'm in tenth grade now. I've been playing since fifth grade, so that's about five to six years. How many have you been playing? And was it your first instrument? Do you play and others?

Jun-Okami In reply to musician-not-drawer [2011-02-17 04:30:12 +0000 UTC]

-late reply "orz-
I'm actually in 8th grade right now - started playing in 4th grade.
My first instrument was actually the piano, but I used to be extremely paranoid as a smaller child, so I had a lot of tantrums and couldn't continue.
I hated the clarinet at first, but then grew to love it. I played the saxophone for Jazz Band last year while continuing with the clarinet.
DX Now I just can't seem to get myself into it, though... I think by spring I'll be okay though. Winter just always makes me feel horrible...

musician-not-drawer In reply to Jun-Okami [2011-02-17 05:58:31 +0000 UTC]

I know how you feel. I have a hard time getting myself to practice in Winter too. The piano was my first instrument too (not counting the recorder) and I would throw tantrums on the way there every time because my parents wouldn't let me quit. Eventually I got into it, but then we moved and I haven't taken it up since. Hang on to eight grade while you still can, because from there on up, it becomes pretty hectic. I like your profile pic, it's really cute.

Jun-Okami In reply to musician-not-drawer [2011-02-18 03:08:29 +0000 UTC]

Exactly!! I always used to beg my mom to let me quit, but, being Asian parents, they didn't let me.
Now I kind of wish I listened more to them; piano seems like a really useful/nice instrument.
"orz Eighth grade is pretty bad for me... I had to take so many tests this year... SATs, the TACHs, and more... x . x" And then I got two scholarships and everything went pretty much insane.
Thanks!! It's Ukraine from Axis Powers Hetalia. I didn't draw it, the mangaka did, but it really is adorable so I just had to use it.

Considering your comments on tests, I am now finding myself stupidly realizing once again that not everyone who speaks (writes) English necessarily lives in the same country or even has the same customs. I mean, I have already and do realize(d) this, but it's just so easy to assume when conversing over written words on the internet which is so vast that meeting people from totally different backgrounds is commonplace just like meeting those of a similar culture is outside of cyberspace. Speaking of Hetalia, I recently tried watching the first episode. My first reaction was "WTH?! What just happened? That was so short! And fast!" Was yours similar or different?

Ah, no, I live in America, but I'm Korean. It's just that... Y'know, Asian families are so strict.
I really act more Korean than American ((biggest understatement ever I need help ordering McDonald's)).
But I've thought about that a lot, too - I've had many an online conversation where I'm talking to someone in clear English, but then they say that they're from Peru, or Singapore!! It's really surprising when that happens, and it makes me thing a lot about just how connected the world is.

XD Haha, that was -exactly- my reaction at first, but now, a year later, I'm still obsessed with it.
It's a wonderful show; inspiring, funny, and makes you think about history.
But honestly, the anime is sorta... Well, it's funny, but the drawings are bleh and it doesn't capture the cuteness/emotional-ness ((for want of a better word)) of the webcomic. The fanbase is WONDERFUL. Really, the fanbase is what makes Hetalia... Hetalia.
I could rant forever about how awesome it is, but it bore you to death.
XD I really do love it, though~~~

Jun-Okami In reply to Jun-Okami [2011-05-18 02:50:36 +0000 UTC]

XDDD My parents are actually sorta lax for Koreans. And Koreans are much less strict than... Say, Chinese. ((in general.)) They used to be terribly scary but as they got older they sorta gave up being so strict. Although they aren't as liberal as Americans ((who I think sorta TOO liberal)).
My parents don't really expect anything like that from me. I've been sorta disconnected from my dad for a while and my mom is awesome. I think my mom is more afraid that I'll be TOO dependent and grateful to her when I grow up - I'm really scared of going to live on my own. I'm even afraid to go to high school next year.

I think that manga used to be MUCH better than anime in many ways, and I do love the way that the artist has to compensate for the tidbits BETWEEN the pictures. I also used to hate fillers and story changes.
But lately, anime production has become AMAZING. I've been really interested in animation, too, and know how hard it is to make just a few frames. I marvel at today's smooth animation, perfect drawings, and amazingly executed presentation of plot. XDD Sometimes I start squeing and oohing and ahhing at it all... I have like an anime critic-gasm!!!
I've always been an anime person and not a manga person - my sister is the manga one.
But really... The Hetalia anime is a little awkward and un-cute. Although I still do love it ((I'm too loyal a fan not to!))

I think I might have an inkling at what you mean by acting more Korean than American. I have a friend who is from Mongolia (obviously a different culture and country, but I find most Asian cultures are stricter) about American and Asian/Mongolian standards and expectations and how the way one is raised changes the mindset of how one should live life. For example, she said that children are expected to obey their parents totally because they will forever be in their debt for bringing them into the world. Is that anything like what you experience?

Speaking of comics being better than anime, my favorite part of reading manga is the developement of the way the artist portrays the characters, and the lack of restrictions in how a shot can be captured. Plus, you get the whole story, rather than fillers or parts changed slightly.
