Dublin City Council is to introduce a ban on eleven breeds of dog from properties including houses, flats and estates, with immediate effect.
The breeds are: English Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, Rottweiler, German Shepherd (Alsatian), Doberman, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Japanese Akita, Bull Mastiff, Japanese Tosa and Bandog. Cross-breeds of these dogs or crosses of these dogs with any other breed are also banned.
Owners will be given the opportunity to rehouse the dogs but if alternative accommodation cannot be found for they will be destroyed.

ARTS COUNCIL: POSTCARD CAMPAIGN FOR RETENTION OF ARTISTS' TAX EXEMPTION
SCHEME
The Arts Council has warned that the abolition of the artists' tax exemption
scheme could cost Ireland a generation of new and emerging artists. Without
the scheme, artists will choose to base their work in more well-established
art markets around the world.
The Arts Council has launched a postcard campaign to the Minister for
Finance urging him to retain the exemption. The Council hopes the many
people who support the exemption will electronically post its card to the
Minister for Finance. The postcard is available on the homepage of the
Council's website at [link] . It is a simple-to-send electronic
message.
The Council have also published a book of biographies which gives the
stories of 10 artists and how the artists' tax exemption has benefited them.
Playwrights Conor McPherson and Billy Roche, novelist Anne Enright, visual
artist Alice Maher, musician Paul Brady and composers Seoirse Bodley and
Gerald Barry are among those featured. You can download the book of
