Have you thought about making a font of the omnidirectional alphabet concept?

Several times.
Β I nearly made one when I bought a new computer about 2 years ago and a new system with it.Β Making a new font seemed easy then.Β I just needed a good font-making add-in or plug-in.
It turned out that it was impossible with all of the plug-ins I looked at.Β They were all made to create fonts with a classic orientation and a "grounding" on a line, even the sans-serif ones.Β
What I came to realize was that I also needed a different kind of word processor to work with that different kind of font plug-in which I had not found.Β Β
So even if i did find the holy grail of omnidirectional font creation plug-ins I would still have the problem of not being able to use it vertically in a classic word processor or simple text processor. I would need something that could handle Japanese writing vertically and also English horizontally, but with my omnidirectional alphabet in there instead.Β And it had to be for someone like me who could not understand Japanese instructions.Β Or Chinese ones since they also write vertically sometimes.
It was much easier to go on writing texts in a graphic program!

Ah. So not even BabelPad worked then......

I don't remember the names of the programs I looked at over the past years.Β But I just now went to see BabelPad, and it would not do, even if they finally managed to get the bidirectional algorithm working to do some boustrophedon writing for Hebrew texts (or others).Β
You see, they would need to to do both boustrophedon writing and linking curves to do something like this with Biaxymb:

And then there's the question of making combos of vertical and horizontal writing for maximum "playful" (or advertising) effect like this:
ndgmtlcd.deviantart.com/art/Biβ¦
From what I've just read BabelPad has no capacity for this.
If I really wanted a text processor doing Biaxymb in theory it could be possible using AutoCad programming.Β I'd have to pay a specialist of course and that would mean really big bucks.Β I'll stick to my paint program.

That would preclude the need to create four different fonts. (Rtl. ltr, descending vertical, ascending vertical) like they have for the Sarati.

I didn't know about Tolkien's Sarati. It's logical since many runes (I studied Old Norse a long time ago) were written vertically for short messages or warnings. I had forgotten that runic script (futhark) was essentially centered on a vertical line, adding an enticement to write vertically.Β I rediscovered it while refreshing my memory:

Which is why there are runic inscriptions that sort of wind in from the outside in like an old phonograph record.

Yes, I ran into this example in Wikipedia while looking for an example of a mix of vertical and horizontal runes in the same text, the other day:
