Next time you assume to speak on behalf of the illustrators' community, please remember: you don't.
Terry Goodkind's attack on the artist who worked on one of his book's covers was nothing short of undignified and unprofessional. Illustrators act on briefs given to them by the art directors. When Terry was confronted with his wrongdoing rather than apologising he shifted blame to his publisher (another remarkably uninteligent thing to do).
So it was only natural for the illustrator community and many authors to condemn what was an obviously petty, belittling and unprofessional attack on someone's work. Just as it was natural for you to run in, chasing the chance to kiss ass for the chance of work - which as despicable as it is, it is something you're entitled to.
What you aren't entitled to is to speak for the artist community as a whole. You speak for yourself and yourself only. When seeking self-promotion please restrict yourself to the standard ass-kissing act you obviously perform so well and abstain from referring to others as if you hold any sort of power of representation over them.
For anyone wondering what's the fuss all about, just peek into Terry Goodkind's FB page. Or seek out Terry Goodkind over recent news. Something's bound to pop up.

When I came to apologize to Terry (which I probably shouldn't have done in the first place because it wasn't me the one throwing hate his way) I gotta admit, I didn't think it through. I made a poor word choice, and as soon as I received the first complains, I did edit the post. If you read it, you will notice I did not offer him my services at any point, it was him the one who took the time to check out my profile, found my portfolio and proposed for us to work together, to which I did not refuse nor will, because I do not think he deserves to be blacklisted. I wouldn't label that as "running in, chasing the chance to kiss ass for the chance of work", which on itself is a far fetched assumption, I want to assume this is not your own reading of the situation, but the version of what someone else said I did, because there is little room to get lost in translation if you check the direct source.
Now, you say "Terry was confronted with his wrongdoing rather than apologising he shifted blame to his publisher (another remarkably uninteligent thing to do)." which would be correct if the events would have happened as you think they were, but they did not. Terry's apology is legit and what you call "shifting the blame" is actually the true recount of the events as they unfolded. Here is what happened: He received the cover, he thought it was misrepresentative and so did a chunk of his fanbase, he received fan mail complaining about the cover, and what he did in order to calm them down, was to join their bandwagon and create the infamous post we all saw, calling the cover (the cover, not the artist skills) "laughably bad" and opening a poll from which he would choose the best 10 comments to give away a signed book for free, each. He did not foresee the artist would see that post out of context and share it along his own impression on the standalone post. When the outrage happened, Terry came out to clarify the situation, about how it was not about the illustrator skills, but about the cover being not representative of the characters or the plot in his book. And you can see his version is correct if you enter his page and check the poll comments:
This is the screenshot I took to prove my case when I initially discussed the topic, if you check the dates, some comments are older than others, and the older comments are all about how the characters are not as depicted in the book, and just a couple are vaguely about the art. Now:
The most upvoted comment, with 150 + people agreeing, is all about character misrepresentation, and it was done the day before the illustrator shared his version of what happened. Some people argue that the illustrator commented way before sharing this post and I missed on that because Terry erased the comment, but again, if you check the date (as per the own illustrator's screenshot):
You will realize he commented 20 hours after that post was up. If we check the actual time and date from when that post by Terry was up:
It states: Feb 23, at 16: 39 . The most upvoted comment (about the cover misrepresentation of the characters) was on Feb 23, at 16:56 , 17 MINUTES after the original post was up, not 20 hours. So we can conclude with this evidence Terry's version is true, so that makes the "shifting blame towards the publisher" a misreading of the situation, given the lack of context.
My whole defense of Terry is exactly this, and is not even a defense on him, is a defense on us as a society to, please, create the habit to dig for the truth before condemning. Is not about Terry, never was. It is about objectivity.

Haha Gracias! Como podrás notar vengo a DA muy rara vez! En Facebook hay muuuchas comunidades, la mayoría internacionales pero habemos muchos mexas ahí metidos. Había una de los que nos conocimos en el Illustrators Deathmatch el año antepasado pero ya lleva un rato inactiva, de cuando en cuando organizan reuniones, igual cuando organizen la que sigue te aviso!
