Hi Nezu, read some of your fanfic! You ever going to finish that story?! I read 14 chapters already and I forgot to eat. Now I'm hungry.
Also, your rat art is cool ^.^

nezuko In reply to Karasunokazu [2006-10-09 07:04:33 +0000 UTC]
Thanks! Yes I'm going to finish it. I've been dealing with some really quite pressing RL lately (moving house, getting divorced) but I absolutely will finish it. Hope to have it done by the end of the year, sooner if I can.
And I'm glad you like my ratties. If I'm lucky I'll find my watercolors again soon. Moving is such a pain.

Good luck with that.

I've seen your gallery and I like your stuff. Really like how you put your own style in the Naruto fan arts. From what I see you do have a good understanding on human anatomy. That's were most artist seem to fail at, but you got it! Keep up the good work!

Thanks! Yeah I have nothing like an anime style - I'm more of a naturalistic artist. Still, I'm always trying to improve. I need to do more life-drawing.
But seriously thanks. You made my day.

I have read some of yoru stories and and loving your art work related to said peices of genius! ;D You are a very talented person Nezu-sama. I can only encourage you in your growth, you have the human body down very well. Shold you be looking for a good refernece book, I would suggest Human Anatomy Made Amazingly Easy by Christopher Hart. It's help me well enough!
I love your stuff and can't wait for more!

Oh wow, thank you! I'm very flattered. I usually draw from life or from photographs for anatomy, but good reference works are always useful. I have a large collection of books of black and white photos of people in all sorts of poses.
I guess I consider myself more of a writer than an artist, although it used to be the reverse. Anyway you are very kind to comment.

Hee hee, you mean "bruxing"? I love it when my rats do that, grinding their teeth and boggling their eyes!
π: 0 β©: 1
nezuko In reply to LadyJekyll [2005-10-02 10:56:29 +0000 UTC]
Oh indeed. I always tell them how much I love it when they let me know they're happy, to which they usually respond by bruxing and boggling even more vigorously. I've always called it the happy rat noise. The first time I saw a rat boggling, I was sure he was having a seizure. Heh. So long ago... >x<

Thanks! I'm flattered and honored. When I was a student I showed my portfolio to a family friend, Joe Kennebrew, who is a relatively well-known artist and sculptor, and he said my sketches were "too controlled" and "not messy enough." His comments had a huge impact on me and my style.

Are they hard to take care of?? I used to have a hamster, and never had rats before.....

nezuko In reply to Camen [2005-02-20 05:47:55 +0000 UTC]
Rats are certainly no more difficult to care for than a hamster, and they\'re much friendlier and more intelligent than their small rodent cousins. You need to clean their cages every week, give them fresh food and water daily, and play with them as much as possible, but I\'d say they\'re easy to take care of. Rats are best kept in same-sex pairs or multiples, as they are social animals and are much happier and healthier if they have a companion.
Some good websites about keeping rats as pets:
American Fancy Rat and Mouse Association - [link]
Rat Fan Club - [link]
Ratty Corner - [link]
Ratty Corner has a downloadable rat calendar; one of my rats, Kurama, is going to be Mr. March 2006

Rats are smart, and they'll need a big enough cage with enough toys in it to keep them occupied, or else they'll get bored and work on figuring out how to open their cage. A 20 Gallon aquarium is abut the minimum volume I'd keep a pair of rats in, although some people keep them in smaller spaces, I think that's unfair to the rats. Your pet store should be able to help you select a good house for them. My rats all live in wire cages with lots of running around room and levels, and they spend a lot of time out playing with me. If you can dedicate a room to your rats and let them run around in that room at least part of the day they'll be a lot happier and healthier. Some people let their rats have run of the house, just like they would with a cat or dog. As long as you are mindful that little critters may be underfoot and don't step on them or let them chew electrical wires, that can be a great way to keep pet rats. Good luck!

Thanks for sharing!!! I have been checking out my local pet stores.... I just need to convince my mum now that I won't let my rats run around the house like I did with my hamster... It ran across my parent's bed one night while they were asleep .... Yeah, and it wasn't pretty.
Do rats know how to open their cages? Because I think that' s how my hamster got out all the time... I lost him 3 times while I had him.....

Thanks! I think so too, but then I'm the fond pet owner. I even like their silky tails, which I know a lot of people don't. And they're so loving and sweet and fun...
Everyone who can be good to them should have pet rats!
