(I'm just going to condense the other reply in this one). Pen tool lining is great because it creates lines that are not only very clean, but can also be scaled to any size or resolution. The downside of this is that it takes a long, long, long time - much longer than computer inking by hand and you really do need as much practice as you would with a normal brush tool to get the lines looking natural.
While I'd suggest you try anything and everything, don't be afraid to hop into elements and give it a go with a brush (make sure you go into the brush settings and hit "smoothing" on).

Online tutorials are your friend, trust me - there is some great stuff out there.
